I have been told that I need a new indicator/wiper switch unit on my picasso. Unfortunately there are several different units for this model year, and I need the part number. Can this number be obtained by removing the co!umn shroud or does the steering wheel need to come off? Read more
There have been noises made about SatNavs especially for use by drivers of HGVs. Do any of the BRs know of progess ?
I was confronted three times yesterday by HGVs travelling along routes that were clearly difficult. One of them was while going down Blaze Hill near to Bollington, Macclesfield, on the stretch near to Bollington. I was met by a high and wide articulator coming up. That hill is very narrow and if the driver was able to get round the bend at the top of the first stretch then he was able to complete the whole. If he met a car or a van on the bend then neither could pass each other. It would mean the car or van would have to reverse about 150 yards. As it was the driver of the Mini following me was getting very irritated. When we finally were able to pass the articulator I met another in similar circumstances in Bollington village. The Mini driver gave me a horn salute when I gave way to the articulator. Read more
Any sat nav can plot a route, but lorry drivers are supposed to be professionals, a pro decides their own route they do not follow the directions of some infernal electronic toy, if they do they don't learn anything they just blindly follow, hence why we end up with 44 ton artics down lanes you'd be wary of taking a Defender down.
If we're not careful we'll end up with a whole generation of lorry drivers of no more use than the kids you see in cars who can't find their way to work or the supermarket, which they travel to often, without that infernal idiot machine giving them directions....
Hello,
I'm thinking about trading my current car in for a brand new or nearly new car and would like some advice about what I can expect with regards to any movement on the list price of the car I'm considering and the best way to negotiate.... Read more
Wonderful. Well done.
Enjoy the car.
I bought a cheap dash cam recently (£16) from a service station. It works ok, images not too bad for the price. My post is about radio interference on mw. On CD or FM or Bluetooth its fine but in mw I get so bad crackling and hiss I can't have both on at the same time. I have aftermarket Alpine head unit.
Anyone have similar problems or a possible solution?

Hello,
Yes I thought it was to do with the power supply. It goes in the 12v accessory power socket. I will investigate the capacitor idea in another post .
Thanks
I have had this fiesta from brand new in 2014 and noticed recently that the steering seems more heavier when driving.

Not sure what fluid level you checked as this era of Fiesta has an electric power steering system and not hydrolic so there's no fluid in it.
It's sadly quite a common failure on Fiestas for the EPAS column to go wrong which usually manifests itself in one or all four ways.
1. Heavy steering in both directions.
2. Intermittent loss of steering.
3. Complete loss of power steering.
4. Power steering light illuminating on the dash.
You need a competent auto electrician to check this out, it is safety related so don't delay. I'd try the main dealer first, even if your warranty is up I'd expect some goodwill if you've maintained a full dealer history and the car hasn't done a huge mileage but if they refuse to offer any then a quick google search should pull up other options. There are firms out there who repair them or offer refurbished systems.
Is it an oversimplification to say that Japanese cars are reliable, French cars have poor electrics and German cars have strong image and great build quality? Read more
Now that Toyota are using some BMW engines, I wonder if they will drop the dipstick on the engines too like BMW?
Hadn't thought of that, not likely to find out first hand, never thought Toyota would follow the herd with such things, disappointed.
When using the DVSA web resource to check your car for recalls, be sure to change the entirely inappropriate default date range. Who wants to go back to 1992, and why hide this years recent recalls, by default?

A lambo with a fire risk problem - that makes a pleasant change from before...
So the scrappage scheme has not been announced, and car road fund licence charges for new cars will increase at the start of April. Diesel cars will cost more to tax, plus there has been talk about city centre bans, higher parking charges etc - so what now for new diesel cars?
I've never owned a diesel car, but following a change of job I now drivie 400 miles a week, and with and my present car (2004 Nissan Primera) having 180,000 miles on the clock I'm thinking it will soon be time to change car, either new or new to me car, dare I take the risk with a diesel? Or stick to petrol?. Been looking at Peugeot 308, Nissan Pulsar, Kia Ceed, Seat Leon as examples of class / size. Looking for something to stand the test of time, cruise comfortably on motorways yet be comfortable & economical to run.... Read more
It is amazing corax, a sort of golden age for ideas. I guess modern manufacturing and in car computing power help as well.

Any clues here :
looking to replace old car. notice dealer stock seems to be selling very quickly at the moment. suspect this is partly (or so a dealer told me) due to people trying to buy to avoid paying new tax rates. so, is it likely that car sales will drop in april, leading to more stock and better deals/offers coming out April onwards? Its going to be really odd in 5 years time, as predicted where 5 to 11 year old high CO2 cars are currently increasingly difficult to sell as they age due to £515 VED (this is the sole reason my Landcruiser is a 2005 and not newer), in 5 years time the soon to be bought 5 year olds will be cheap as any other car on VED.
Well this is with the goal posts where they are currently, they'll probably move a few times between now and then, and i doubt those of us with older cars will find ourselves left alone, espacially if we happen to own something that's been deemed wrong..
Many thanks. Sorry for delay in replying, just getting over shock......
I'll try for a repair or a recon. unit. Your help is appreciated.
