On some forums its possible to 'ignore' posters who you have no wish to read for various reasons.

We have another batch of posters on technical who ask questions, maybe they don't like the answers, maybe can't be bothered to update their thread, or maybe just vanish from whence they came.... Read more

I understand the need to keep tyre tread depths more or less the same on all four wheels on vehicles with 4wd, but how much leeway is there without causing transmission problems?

A front wheel puncture on a car with Quattro transmission has recently meant a new tyre where all others have about 5mm of tread.... Read more

Even the dealers differ. I asked another dealer out of interest and they said a 3mm difference was acceptable both across the axles and back to front.

The question is to spend £300 on three more tyres that have 5mm of tread or take the risk as suggested by the second dealer and have 8mm on one wheel and 5mm on the rest.

Hmm, so the budget has announced £93m of roads investment in the North. Based on the last few years of 'improvements' can I say thanks but no thanks to their idea of improvements...

1) Western Bypass - £80m and 3 years of misery and traffic queues are longer than ever. Literally the day after the roadworks were removed the queue extended.... Read more

First of all, Hello, this is my first post, so please don't be too harsh.

It's time for me to buy first my and right now i'm thinking about two possibilities either Toyota Avensis after facelift (2007-2008) 2.0l diesel d-4d or Honda Accord (2004-2005) 2.2 ICTDI. I have to mention early on, that in the country that i'm from these two cost almost identical.

As of my previous research i came to a conclusion, that Honda is more fun to drive, it has better handling and more powerful engine, however it have more technical issues, as of Avensis, it's much more standart and reliable.

So I am asking to share your opinions and help me to decide once and for all. Thanks in advance. Read more

When will the Treasury in the name of the DVLA take measures to record and monitor the unregistered EU vehicles that have been in the UK for a continuous 6 months or more thereby bypassing checks and cost of VED, MOT and Insurance obligations.

Over the years it has been estimated that £60m of unpaid VED has slipped through.

If the Treaury does not want it take measures to collect it and give it to the needy NHS budget.

Hi regarding the smart forfour with the "bouncy door" my wife has the same car and she had the same problem. There are two short cables, one for the inside door handle the other for the outside door handle. The outside handle cable got sticky with grime over the years, this could be temporarily fixed by squirting wd40 down the lock. This works for a short while but in freezing weather the sticky cable prevents the door from shutting. We ordered a new inexpensive cable from Smart of Newcastle and I fixed it myself. That's the good news the bad is that it is a pig of a job.The plastic outside door panel can be "unpopped" at the top and with swearing and head scratching it can be done in around an hour...but not an easy job. If not confident I'm sure a local garage would have a go... or I can recommend McSmarts (Airdrie) they fitted a new clutch acctuator at150000miles and are fantastic! Read more

I completely understand your frustration. I’ve relied on similar Google Assistant features for everyday tasks like listening to audiobooks while walking my dog, so it's disappointing to see useful automations being removed. It seems odd that such a helpful feature would be discontinued, especially for those of us who use it regularly. Hopefully, Google reconsiders these changes. On a related note, when I was struggling to balance my studies, I found that essaypro.com/research-proposal-writing-service EssayPro helped me with essay and research proposal writing, saving me a lot of time. Hi all

Bought a very low mileage Lupo as a runaround the other week and starting to worry as some problems have emerged! Any ideas much appreciated!

1. Noticed today a fast, rattling sound coming from the engine at idle. If I depress the clutch it goes away and it smooths out quickly if I rev the engine.

2. Slightly dirty smell comes through the vents at times, also mainly at idle. I've not got the best sense of smell so can't work out if it's a burning or exhaust smell.

3. Brake lights have failed twice, giving an EPC warning. Replaced brake light switch at an independent garage but failed again a few days later. Not sure if garage did a bodge job or it's something more.

Think I might have a lemon here but live and learn! Read more

Thinking it might be a noisy / worn clutch bearing. It's coming from the gearbox area, the sound fits with a few videos I looked up and it goes away as soon as I depress the clutch.
