I was surprised to read about Pam Coxon's situation and the Dealer's response because I had exactly the same problems and after repeated contact with Ford Motor Co., especially the MD (his email address is: abarratt@ford.com), Ford confirmed that the warrantee on the troublesome Powershift gearboxes had been extended to 5 years (just as Ford had beeen obliged to do in USA and Australia) Read more

The new punishment of 6pts/£200 didn't bother a bloke I saw today in the ubiquitous white van, texting at traffic lights on red and when green appeared drove off tapping away as he turned right. Dosen't seem as is anything will put some people off. Read more
for some a mobile is complicated and do not have a clue how to use them apart from texting and making calls, I have relations that when someone explains how to make bluetooth connection, they tell them not to bother as its too complicated.
Had 5 cars with bluetooth now and pairing the phones has been simple enough whatever brand of car and whatever brand of phone we have had at the time. Once its done it connects automatically the next time you turn on the car (providing bluetooth is turned on in the phone)....
Some days there seems to be multiple new spam messages.
I am conscious that it is unreasonable to expect Avant to moderate every post the instant it is uploaded, nor would we want a long delay for all posts to appear whilst awaiting moderation.... Read more
It's also surprising how many people seem to get worked up about spammers. ...
What an absolute load of carp.

I don't think it is the media at fault here - the report is just repeating the statements of so-called scientists who have zero evidence to support their statements.
I disagree. The media will report any old load of garbage simply to perpetuate their incredibly boring and mundane occupation. They need so many stories per day to run with or all those people milling about in studios, newsrooms etc etc would be out of work. We can't have that now, can we? The prime example of how feeble the media really reveals itself in the way they put such dramatic emphasis on the most inocuous stories. Trying to engender some form of import to an otherwise mundane event. Also can anyone explain why they have a reporter outside some Government building at 10.20pm, with the usual crew of lighting, sound and broadcast engineers, simply to reiterate what the newsreader in the studio has just told us?? Would any of us get away with that kind of useless and unecessary behaviour at our workplace? I think not. But then again we had proper jobs....
2007 Mazda 6 diesel, 98k miles. One year ago, car would slow down approaching even slight gradienst needing many downward gear changes. This followed by all the DPF problems finally needing new filter , sensors etc. new filter (patterned version) clogged twice, patterned sensors failed resulting in severe loss of power on motorway. Finally had filter 'gutted' and ECU remapped. All ok for few weeks, now getting random loss of power/ slow throttle response. On last two occasions, driving down a steep hill seemed to rectify that ??? Read more

You do realise your car is illegal to use on the road and if will fail its next MOT if the garage do thier job....
This was originally going to be a rant, now I hope to turn it into a debate. Surely discussed many times and of course always from different angles.
I have recently acquired a 2007 Seat Altea Reference 1.9 TDI 5 speed with the risky BXE (I learned about the high risk of conrod failure after I bough it so I am keeping my fongers crossed)... Read more
I wonder if it relates to the speed reading as well. I tend to trust more the satnav than the speedometer which apparently is has all the same components regardless of wheel/tyre size. If indeed there is a +/- 5mph on it readinbg over 70mph, why not distance as well that probably rely on the same sensors?
Couldn't fit it all in the title, bought the car as a cheap stop gap, it's had camel replaced and a service, but has had a squealing noise on acceleration, sometimes even slipping completely, since I got it.
More recently it has started to take many attempts to start, usually with revving the engine or it starts drops past 900rpm and stalls, it is also having a kind of chugging / losing power feeling at lower revs particularly in 2nd and third gear when I am going at lower speeds (traffic or residential roads etc) and sometimes, particularly going uphill a very large juddering sensation almost like the whole engine is wobbling about! ... Sorry but replaced the camel!!!!!
You totally got me lost there!...
I suppose this is elementary, but I've never encountered it before.
Local petrol station compressor has been broken for over a year , so I've been topping up with a hand pump. I now have 2 tyres (one motorbike, one car) that no longer accept air, though when I got the mc to a compressor it would, presumably because of the higher pressure.... Read more
Normal tyre valves don't need the centre depressing to fill with air, but you need a fair shove of pressure to open the valve against the spring, though they obviously need the pin depressing to release air.
Its much easier to fit a valve with one of these...
Thanks for the replies .....putting it down to a bad experience..I might offer the loan company the auction price for the car and then hand it over to my niece instead if they accept
