Just a few words to let owners of the above car know that models fitted with Sync1 can have a bluetooth connection issue. The solution under warantee is for a non-Ford cable to be fitted to the car. This will require the car to be with the service agent for one day, as it involves modifications to the vehicles wiring system by a external specialist. It is possible that this could effect some Focus models as well. Read more

I went to see a Citroen C5 diesel estate for sale. Its only 2 owners and 89000 miles, which seems ok. The problem was when I went for a test drive ,it didnt have the power I expected when pressing the accelerator. I have the same model just now, so I know they are not the quickest! The guy said he was told to replace the air mass flow, which he did,but nothing changed. There was no smoke on starting and the car seemed to drive ok, apart from the power issue. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks Read more

The story ends! The car runs fine now guys. Turns out it needed vacuum hose repaired. I should have stuck with this garage from the start.

Need some new tyres for a Mondeo 2.0ltr. D. 205/55 R16 91V.

I've had several sets of Bridgestone A001 all weather (various vehicles) but these are getting a bit dated. They seem O.K. to me and quite happy to fall back on another set.... Read more

I ran a 53 plate Mondeo TDCi with Uniroyal Rainsport ((not rain expert) on front and they were very good with no aquaplaning lots of grip in wet. Replaced the original Bridgestones on the rear with them too when due.

Brother's just called me, asked me to go with him to look at an Avensis 2.0 petrol 2003. The car apparently belongs to his dad (80+) and he's selling it for him.

I spotted this a few weeks ago on a supermarket ads board, was up for £1700, crossed out, then £1295. Brother left a message, no answer, today had a call saying seller (son on behalf of father) had been away, will bring car for examination/sale.... Read more

I have had 12 VWs all bought new over more years than I want to think about, the first was a MK1 Golf Driver bought at a huge discount monthes after production had stopped and the latest is a 2014 Sharan SEL. I have tried to find other makes but apart from 4 years with an early MX5 have always ended up with another VW.

The attraction has been the build quality compared to others, I liked the Ford S Max but the chunks of foam sticking out at the seat hinges when the seat was folded put me off. Honda FR-V fitted the bill at the time but the ugly spot welds in the door shuts and tailgate, and paint so thin the primer showed through on all the surfaces not visible from outside with the doors closed. Carpet not worthy of the name. You get the picture, Im a fussy begger.... Read more

Back in the 80s there was nothing to touch the Golf for "feelgood", particularly the Gti, which was by far the most desirable hot hatch. Others were faster but none had the overall classy, solid feel it had. They also had a series of iconic TV adverts that were hugely successful in getting the perception of quality and reliability across. I had my first Golf Mk 2 in 1990 and it definitely felt in a different league to rivals such as Astra, Escort, Corolla. Although I loved that car, it wasn't fast and it wasn't reliable, all 4 doors leaked like a sieve and it failed to start on many damp mornings.

I still like the current VAG offerings, although I am hugely sceptical of their robustness. My Mk2 Octavia has a history of various low level faults, a noisy gearbox and I've just noticed the drivers seat has worn right through,at 84000 miles so much for interior quality! This Mk2 of mine shows many signs of cost-cutting compared to the MK1 . So I won't have another, as it's clear others can build a better car these days. VAG can still build a car with huge showroom appeal, which in these days of brand new PCP deals is what matters, but theyre trading on past reputation I feel. They also drive nicely and feature a lot of high tech- possibly their reliability downfall after a few years of use. Their dealers are rude to the point of plain arrogance, too!...

I have a 2007 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 90bhp. It drives around town fine but when on the dual carriage way seems to lack power e.g. On a hill may need to drop to 4th or 3rd to maintain 60mph. This car wasn't fitted with a DPF and you can hear the turbo working. No error codes are found on computer. Any advice where to start looking? It has just had full service including cam and water pump which didn't resolve this. Read more

Gone are the days when Volvo used to be boxy, although they did also get a bit weird recently with the kind of flowing designs. This white the new head lights and lovely cabin seems to tick all the box's Job done Volvo but whats the cost? How deep do my pockets need to be to own this? Read more

However it is probably as reliable as the Range Rover Evoke given the company's history. As always I love their designs but always feel they should employ Toyota to build them then I would consider buying them. The appearance and description would sell it to me sadly the history and having owned a 3008 has put me off having anything from this company (yes I know they have different brands but are basically the same company) If only they could improve their reliability etc they would have a winner here. Re the comment above... We have owned: 2CV. Dyanes, Visa, AX, BX, ZX, Pug 307 and currently Pug 2008. Reliability has never been a problem with any of them at all..... So when we change we will certainly look ar the DS7 Crossback. I hope I don't regret saying it but I have complete confidence in PSA vehicles.
In fact I've had troubles with Honda, Toyota and VW but as yet PSA vehicles have been faultless. Perhaps we have been lucky with the vehicles we bought AND the fact we have had exceptional dealers for servicing.
