hi all,ive got a peugeot 307..its a 1.4s petrol...2003...i went to the car this morning to go out somewere. when i started the car and pressed the clutch in it sort of done something and its now very soft when pressing it in. i can get the car in gear but the car wont move until the clutch is right up..im just wondering if the clutch has had its day. ive checked the brake/clutch resovoir and it full..i noticed that the clutch before hand was a little lower in hieght than the accellerator, but now its the same hieght..would i be needing a new clutch.or would the clutch need bleeding.im getting a bit sick of this car now so might have to sell as all im doing is ploughing money into it,which really i cant afford to..anyway any helpfull tips would be appreciated..thanks... Mine went at 115,000 on my first 307.

If you're getting "mates rates" on fitting, I'd recommend paying a bit more and going for a Valeo clutch. A few Pug owners have reported juddering problems with LUK clutches.

The oil level in my 2009 1.6tdci focus is increasing. I have to change the oil every two weeks to save the engine!! The coolant level doesn't change and the oil isn't murky when I change it so I'm sure it's not water. I've had the injectors reconditioned and the injector seals replaced. The mechanic did a compression test and said the engine was at approx 80%. The fuel economy has dropped from 55 to 43 mpg, and the power has dropped off also. I've had the dpf replaced 4 months ago. This problem only really started after the dpf was replaced; I read somewhere that the engine could be constantly trying to regerate the dpf? Does the engine oil lubricate the fuel pump? Could there be a leaking seal on that?

Any Help/Advice greatly appreciated.

Update on this; the fault code P2458-61 ("dpf regeneration duration") is stuck in the engine PCM! The engine repeatedly tries to regenerate the dpf (hence the increasing oil level - diesel contamination from the regeneration cycle). All the sensors have been checked. The eloys liquid level was checked and that’s fine. The dpf has been replaced and the sensor voltage checked; all good. Ford dealer uninstalled and reinstalled the PCM but to no avail, this fault is ever present. ...

Limp mode happens rarely but car can be driven again after 15 minutes. Will a hard drive (how hard?) regenerate the dpf. problem - hardly any dual carriageway in my part of Norfolk. Can I use A roads in a lower gear?

Railroad.

The driver does not decide how the engine runs on a modern car. The ECM does. All the driver does is make inputs into the ECM via the pedals. The ECM will decide when to regenerate the DPF, and the procedure will be aborted if the driver thinks he knows better and decides he wants to rag it. As stated above, the ECM will commence the regeneration process when you're driving at a fairly constant speed with the engine at normal working temperature. Typically on a motorway.

An elderly couple I know through work have just bought a Mokka to replace an ageing VECTRA. They chose a white one because they felt it wouldn't show the dirt. I was rather surprised.

Just wondering whether others think this was a barmy choice? And what colours are really best for not showing dirt? Read more

Am getting my next second-hand car and want something I can service easily myself. Will a Honda Jazz (02-05) be OK? Will I have to jack up the front to do the oil filter and is this safe for a novice?

Pressing Buttons #2 and #5 sometimes works, too. Should be done as you turn the radio on holding the buttons down.

Not too sure what a Ford 3000 radio looks like but, provided it's not one of the complicated three -part ones, I would think it would be far easier to obtain a set of radio removal tools and pull the radio out just a couple of inches in order to read the serial number from the label on the radio's casing....

Silly question : there is enough oil in the engine isn't there ? I'd check not only the level, but the condition of the oil. If it hasn't been changed regularly and the incorrect grade used, this will have an effect on the hydraulic lifters as dirty oil can cause the oilways in them to block up.

We've got a 2006 Grand Scenic (yes, I know...) with air conditioning that currently has me a little baffled. It has been gassed, and the light comes on the dashboard when it's switched on, but to no effect.
Knowing that the pressure switch on the end of the condenser is a known regular failure, I changed it. Still no change in temperature at the vent. Putting 12 volts direct to the compressor sees the clutch on the pump engage, but no drop in engine revs or temperature showing that the compressor is doing anything.
Has anyone got any ideas? Read more

I changed the switch as a few Renault specialist forums suggested that, because of its exposed location, it was the first thing to fail on this system.
I will get it re gassed by a specialist and report back.
