one of the ugliest mercs ever made ! Read more

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have just traded in a 2012 E 250 Class Estate, a really lovely car, for this 'ugly' Merc, an R350 Sport CDI, also 2012, because in the business I am in of supplying some of my customers instantly with products, it makes a superb posh van, and over the past couple of days I have enjoyed wafting along in an elevated position, with a very solid feel all around, I have been after one with the right spec for a couple of years, and this one suddenly appeared, so I grabbed it. A fabulous car, and fills my needs, although I can see why it has missed the mark for most people, hence its forthcoming demise...

I've had the front brake pads replaced on my wifes 2008 1.4 Mini One - the discs and wear indicators were ok so these were left.

When the garage has tried to reset the brake service indicator - it simply stays at 1000 miles - I've also tried myself several times going through the reset procedure but the indicator still shows 1000 miles!... Read more

That make sense -the garage seemed to think the sensor was ok as long as it hadn't been 'broken' by the pads wearing down - which is my understanding of how they work. Is this a a new type of sensor that also measures the level of wear? Too clever by half!

Please can anyone help?

Having now fitted a new boost pressure valve I have fixed the EGR valve open error but now have the following.

2.DEF : Coherence between the boost pressure and atmospheric pressure.

This is the error code and description that the Renault can clip is giving me.

I have now changed what I think is everything but still problems persist. The car is still running like a bag of s*** and I am sorry to all those people behind me today as I puff out more black smoke than a steam train.

I have been trying all day to re-set the ecu of the error code and going on runs to see if it finally fixes it's self but no joy, Any help at all please, or a secluded spot and a box of matches.

Google this site, the cost of a box of matches would be a waste.

Hi

Recently broken front pipe part of exhaust, purchased replacement part new, Klarius brand, from local stockist, got it fitted today by mechanic but on picking up the car I noticed it was a lot boomier in exhaust noise and vibration.... Read more

The accoustics of budget exhausts are a bit hit and miss. There's a (slim) chance that the front section will quieten down as it soots up.

I am interested as to whether all motor car specification details are passed to prospective insurers from the web comparison sites. I have just completed a web form for our car, a non-UK spec EU import car, and wondered if that information is passed to the insurance companies electronically when requesting quotations. If it is not and I cannot tell from the schedule or other policy documents that it has been whose liability is it when a claim is refused because they did not have this bit of data ? Read more

Hi

I'm really pleased with my mazda 3 1.6 D I bought new ( pre reg ) 6/12 ago. However , despite a lot of care I seem to be unable to get more than c48 mpg...the fuel monitor seems pretty accurate, and the brim to brim tests give a similar figure.... Read more

You have to drive very gently to get the sort of consumption that manufacturers quote, I drive my 406 and C5 both 2.0. Hdi at rarely more than 60 mph or 2000 rpm and get an average of 55-60 with a little more on a long run but we do live in a rural area and rarely venture into towns.

As an earlier post said a bigger engine doesn't necessaraly mean worse fuel consumption. One of the factors that gives a diesel economy is that it will tolerate a very weak mixture, the less throttle you use the weaker the mixture, having a larger engine with more power means less throttle and lower revs both of which will improve economy.

My daugter has just passed her test and is looking to buy her first car. She has a three year old son so a five door is essential. She wants something very small and seems set on either a Peugeot 107 or a Citroen C1. She will be doing some motorway driving so needs an engine suitable for this. Her budget is around £5k. I am pretty unfamiliar with both of these cars so would be grateful for any advice. Read more

I have a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 for my daughter to learn to drive in.

Good looking, good MPG., can be had with 4 dours and a 1.4 engine if needed. Drives very well and easy and cheap to fix......underneath a lot of parts shared with Corsa....

The outlet to the DPF pum on my ford focus has been damaged and it is pumping too much fluid into the tank. How do I prevent this or does anyone know the part number? Read more
