Have you seen a brown fluid on floor in front of O/S/Rear wheel ? there is a container with additive in it. If this is empty you will get a fault light coming on. Think that you need to take it to Agent to have it re-filled though.

Does anyone know what the recommended cambelt change interval is for the 1.2 litre petrol engine fitted to the second generation Ka? Also, if someone knows the cost to have the job done at a dealer, it would be helpful. Haven't managed to find much info online about this.

Thanks in advance! Read more

As the title says. I'm interested in finding out whether the current model Renault Megane (actually, a 2010 model to be precise) with a 1.5dci 110PS engine is chain or belt cam?

HJ's reviews say the Laguna 1.5dci is a chain cam - is it the same in the current Megane? In fact, is HJ right regarding the Laguna? Read more

Hi,

I took out my insurance July 2012, in November of that year I got 3 points for speeding (SP30). I stupidly forgot to inform my insurance and yesterday was involved in accident. The other driver as admitted liabilty as they pulled out in front of me.... Read more

Hi
New to this so hello to all and sorry if I ask some stupid questions. Anyway here goes;
Bought a diesel civic 2.2 last September. Done about 4500 miles. The oil is black. Previous petrol Hondas still had cleanish oil when the recommended services were done. Realise that diesel is relatively dirty stuff but surprised how quickly it appears to have become contaminated.
Question is should I have the oil changed at about 6000 miles? Understand that some cars should be left to "bed in". Intending to keep it for a while so will it be a worthwhile investment?
Thanks in advance Read more

Our local Ford dealer does not use Ford oil unless specially requested. He can get bulk supplies from a different supplier(obviously cheaper). As long as it meets the Ford specification, there is no problem.Castrol is BP.Ford have little or no control over their dealers-they don't even have to fit Ford parts(as long as the dealer offers a guarantee on the part) The only exception are the Ford owned dealers(Dagenham Motors,Bristol Street,Polar group)-the vast majority are not owned or controlled by Ford.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but not new to the forum & have read many MANY threads similar to my query but mot actually hitting the nail squarely on the head.

I drive a 2011 Mondeo Titanium X 1.6TDCi Estate, the Econetic version which on the whole is a very nice car to car. But this week I have suffered the dreaded engine malfunction warning light & the car goes into limp home mode. Stop car turn off engine, restart which resets it but it happens again 100m up the road even if your trying to be very careful.... Read more

I agree with all your comments. But clearly there is an issue as a number of people had identified. I find it astonishing that a car manufacturer would risk peoples lives in this way. When my car stopped I had no control over speed, steering.

Fuel is not the answer. My local sainsburys sells diesel constantly. Its refilled everyday. So fuel must be clean or free of bacteria due to high turnover. It is interesting to note that nobody connect with ford will recommend one fuel or one additive. I am going to ring ford customer services tomorrow to he fobbed off no doubt. ...

I have just had a new fuel injector pump fitted [at great expense] only to find that the engine is still flat . Any idea what it could be ? Read more

I've got one- a 2005 Trojan.

The usual cause of lack of power, assuming all filters clear and no fault lights etc is turbo overboost....

We placed a £500 deposit on a ford focus 1.6 tdci studio 59 reg DPF that has 58,000 miles on the clock that is costing 6500

I will be using it to commute back and forth from uni on the weekends that is a roundtrip motorway journey of 140 miles and occasionaly 5-10 miles during the weekdays in the town and estimate about 7000-8000 miles a year.

We found this car and thought it would be a good buy because of the fuel economy (and i personally find diesels a better drive) but from what i may be reading, this might be a trap. It is an ex-company car so it has been fully serviced by ford dealers but nothing has been mentioned about a DPF replacement. I wanted to ask a couple of questions:

1) Is the ford focus a good buy for my type of driving or would it end up costing me more in the long run? Would you suggest an alternative?

2) With the potential DPF problems up ahead, am i heading into a trap with the car i'm buying?

3) Is it worth possibly losing the 500 deposit to look at an alternative option? Would it be possibly to get the 500 deposit back? Read more

We had a C-Max 1.6 TDCi and never had a turbo problem. In fact in 5 years of ownership the only part replaced (other than tyres) was the alternator belt that started to crack. I suspect most of the problems are caused by inadequate servicing or cheapo garages using the wrong oil, Ford are very specific about specification but the oil is not expensive.

I have a 2006 Fiesta 1.4 TDCI Zetec with a low 41000 miles from new. The air vents are blowing a strong smell of exhaust fumes into the car, but only when the car is stationary and the fan is switched on; when the car is moving the smell gradually disappears, even with the fan on. I can’t see any loose or broken pipes and the exhaust system seem to be OK. Someone here had the same problem and they said it was a faulty fuel injector seal, can anyone confirm that would cause the problem or could be something else.

I had the sump oil leak fixed but fumes are still entering the car. Perhaps its the fuel injector after all. Will need to take it back to the garage that resealed the sump, I had told them about the the fumes but they have obviously not fixed it.
