Hello All, My daughter and her boyfriend were at the wrong end of an accident a few weeks back. The other driver admitted liability having crashed into them on a roundabout,
My daughters B;F was the driver and the car was a write off. The offer for the car was about right in relation to valuation but they both had slight injuries, indded an ambulance called round my daughters house due to concussion, and her insurers sent her a letter today stating that the other drivers insurers wish to settle early and have offerred them both £1,000. My daughter is ok with that but my question to the forum is , would that be a reasonable/average figure as i am not sure as i have been accident free for 10 years. Her insurers only sent the offer in the letter but did not offer any advice , not in the letter anyway though i have advised my daughter to ring after Easter . Read more

Just done the front discs and pads on my son's 59 plate Ford Fiesta. In the past when I've changed pads and discs I've always released the cap on the fluid reservoir to let the pressure go when I push in the piston to accommodate the new pads. Whilst on the topic, does anyone know where I can get replacement copper washers for brake hose/ caliper connections?
A few months ago, Aldi were selling a set of copper washers in a small plastic case for just a couple of quid, and there were some in there that fit my sump plug, so a set like that is worth keeping in the tool kit. Trouble with Aldi is that they get different stuff in each week and if you miss it... it's gone! Try e-Bay for a set like that.
trying to change the water pump on my vauxhall corsa 8v 1997. while I was trying to undo the crank pulley the cambelt slipped and now I suspect that the timing is now out. Is there any marks or ways I can check to see if the timing is correct??
I now know I should have marked the pulleys but didnt realise that the cambelt would slip on the crank pulley.... Read more
Trying taking bottom pulley off there should be a mark on the cog I think it should be pointing at the 6 or 12 o'clock mark hope this helps

If its a collapsing hose it could be, it may only be when there is a large flow of air that it happens i.e. at full throttle under heavy load.

March is probably the worst month to buy a car if the delaer also sells new. They will have achieved their targets from new reg sales....
Hi, a minute after starting to drive the car, the oil warning light blinks, then after a minute of blinking/flickering it goes off again...i have had a new switch put in, new oil change and filter and even was told to unhook the battery turn the key over a few times to reset the computer and still the blooming thing keeps flickering...any hints on how to overcome this?

Anyway, my Fiesta had a fight with a pheasant this morning - the pheasant won - my passenger mirror is off. The whole thing. The door is ok, but have just "bought" a new Fiesta and so am driving my soon to be old Fiesta till Wednesday. I called the dealer who is taking it in part exchange and he said he will get a new powerfold mirror - also needs the casing - Colorado red. Is there anyone who knows how much he will pay for a new complete powerfold mirror with the red casing. He said he won't charge me for fitting it, they will do it when they prep my old car for selling - just for the parts... Read more
