And yet again the fancy new trim levels and no-cost extra equipment are not available with automatic. Read more

I have always had a soft spot for the 2.2 sport nav model - I just wish they had had a high performance and fuel efficient petrol version. Perhaps this is a load em high sell em cheap-ish strategy before the all new Mazda 3 hits the streets later this year with Skyactive engine technology (as the showroom salesman told me a few weeks ago).
Currently on my second RX8 (an R3 in white) and enjoying every moment. It has all the toys and more, is more fun than a GT86 and the cost to run it is far less than the replacement capital cost of an Audi TT. Roll on summer!

My 2004 E46 started puffing out white smoke the week Pope Francis was elected in Rome. I understand this is down to one or more Injectors. At the same time it dumped most of the engine oil over my drive. Is this a related problem or just a nasty coincidence? Any idea what this additional problem may be down to?

Does replacing the injectors on this model require any engine re-programmming? I use a small independent garage for my servicing and repairs. Read more

My Fusion started to misfire at 1500-2000 revs - just fine at idle, and pretty much OK after 2000 as well ... all gears. No problems when coming down the revs.

Garage put in new coilpack and HT leads (just had new plugs at service). This sorted the problem and the car was silky smooth.... Read more

Replacing the coil pack and leads on these is a very easy job,but it is important that the leads are pushed fully home and square onto the spark plugs otherwise you will get misfire issues.Ford recommend the use of a silicone grease to ensure that the leads seat correctly.I would think this is what happened first time round.hth

Aha, good thinking ... you are probably spot on....

I've received a .pdf regarding the dangers of using cruise control while driving in the rain. It seems to make very good sense.

A. Has the subject been brought up recently ?... Read more

Anyhow : How does the cruise control work on front wheel and rear wheel drive cars ?

Well on our car you get to the speed you want to cruise at you press a button on the steering wheel and it maintains that speed. Its sorted magically by the car.

We all moan about poor driving standards these days but two weeks ago they hit a new low, I noticed a driving school car continuously straying into the second lane on a fast A road, I assumed it was a (rubbish) learner driver, as I (carefully) overtook him I saw there was only one person in the car (the instructor I presume) he was looking down at an iPad on the passenger seat – writing an email? It’s no wonder drivers are so bad if instructors take road safety so lightly. I had a go at him at the next set of lights, he wound his window down and shouted a few obscenities at me for pointing out his stupidity before driving off! Read more

To be fair to driving instructors, it might not have been a driving instrucot at the wheel. It might have been on test by a garage, or maybe it was being transferred from one school to another by a delivery driver.

I purchased my Golf new in Nov 2010. Stains have recently appeared on the VW press-in hub caps on each wheel. I understand the stains are called "white worm". The caps have been replaced free of charge under warranty by the VW dealer who said this is a regular problem. Is there anything I can do, perhaps in the way of polish, to prevent a recurrence? As this seems to be a well known regular fault why haven't VW changed the design or materials to preserve their quality image? Read more

Hi Guys,

Had this C-max around a month or so now, and it's been absolutely fine to drive. A few small issues sorted out by my local garage, but nothing out of the ordinary for a car of this age. ... Read more

the quickest and easiest option is to stick a bottle of Forte diesel treatment in the tank [maybe with only half a tank of fuel] and run that through. also look at cleaning out the egr, the amount of gunk that accumulates there is unbelievable. an egr blanking plate will cost £4 and well worth doing while you have it all apart.

i cleaned my egr, then ran the forte through it, then ordered and fitted the blanking plate the following week [only a five minute job]. ...

Saw a similar previous post when researching this so thought I'd join up and pose this one.

This morning, my wife rear ended an old lady at the junction coming off the motorway. The old lady was looking quite confused before she pulled away when the lights changed then suddenly, for no reason pulled an emergency stop right in the middle of a boxed area on the roundabout where the road splits into three separate routes, seemingly confused and panicked by the road layout. ...
