As with all warning lights covered on the mot test,.the light must illuminate with ignition on ,and extinguish after a few seconds. This only tests the operation of the warning light, not the system(engine mil light is not included in the new regs).Abs,airbag, brake warning light and pas warning light are now testable items.hth
I've recently bought a new shape Fiesta and am intending to do an interim service of filters, oil and spark plugs as they're almost due anyway.
Reading through the owner's manual it appears the engine air filter is described as a non-maintenance part - is this actually the case? I've already bought the filter as I was intending to do it, but I'm now wondering if the air box should be cracked open at all given the above.... Read more
I think it means you cannot do anything to it exept replace it with a new one.
I have recently purchased a 10/60 reg Hyundai Sante Fe SUV. I have been reading with concern that the spare wheel is vulnerable to theft. This I believe is also an issue with The Kia Sorento and other Range Rover models as well as other SUV's. My solution was to by an ABUS Hardened chain in a fabric sleeve an thread this through the spare wheel and a space in the rear axle and secure the same with a good quality padlock. It was a fiddly and slightly dirty job, it took around 45 minutes, after I wrapped the padlock in bubble wrap and plastic bag to protect it from the elements. Hopefully this will deter thieves save for the most determined ones, hope this helps others. Read more

Argh! I have a 2006 vauxhall vectra 1.9 cdi and driving home yesterday the power steering went. I managed to pull over and turn the engine on and off and it hasnt happened again but I'm fast losing confidence in my car. Im a childminder and had 4 children in the car at the time. The engine management light never came on or any warning lights. How likely is this to happen again?
I have a Panasonic DVR, model DMR-EX77. Recently the playback sound on recorded material has suffered severe deterioration. It sounds rather like the effect you used to get when the stylus got clogged with fluff. i am assuming that this is the HDD head wearing out through use (it gets plenty of use).
The HDD inside is a Hitachi Deskstar 160Gb, model HDS721616PLAT80, also says ATA/IDE on the label.... Read more
