Hi Car People!
Just bought my first ever car, the model stated above. When I'm sat waiting at lights/junction etc with the clutch depressed and the engine idling there is a very slight 'hiccup' and you can feel a slight vibration in the car and I think it's coming from the engine every 4 or 5 seconds. I think it also happens occasionally when I'm driving at 30/40 as well. I seems to be intermittent. ... Read more
Maybe valves sticking a bit, which was an issue with some until 2006 models? My 2001 zetec occasionally did the same but engine never failed in 120,000 miles ,and four years after selling,I still see it pottering around.
Other jobs were new front brake discs/pads,rear wheel cylinders/shoes,all metal brake pipes and rear hoses, fuel filter, heater control valve....and of course cam belt at 100,000 and yearly engine oil and filter(applicable to my mileage) +air filter element replacement.Usual wear&tear typical of this model/service stuff....
Just been on my regular dog walk round the block on a quiet road that only serves as access to a few properties. Normally I don't see a single car pass down there just to give you an idea of traffic volume. Road is wide enough for two cars to pass easily and footpath is normal width, probably 1.2m. And what did I encounter, a Galaxy parked with two wheels on the footpath leaving a couple of feet for the pedestrian.
Can't help but wonder at the logic. Anyone offer any insight?... Read more
North Tyneside Council do nothing to stop parking on the footpath - is that encouraging it?

This reminds me that I've yet to see an MG6 or Roewe, or at least I'm yet to notice any. I wonder if that's what will happen with the Chinese Saabs.
A car supermarket near us has 2 Pre-Reg Silver MG6's on the forcourt at present, £10199 each. Both 1.8T SE, just spotted them on the way to Tesco at the weekend. Then we saw a blue one on the road on the way home. They look bigger than I expected.
Who says electric cars are expensive? I just bought a Nissan Leaf from West Way Nissan in Southampton for £18212 including metallic paint. That's a 23% discount on the list price even after the Govt grant of £5000. Details are here:
Just as a matter of interest my annual mileage is only abour 4000 as I work half the year in the offshore oil industry - how ironic is that!
Not ironic at all - a great deal of precious oil is used in the manufacture of solar panels and lithium batteries - electric cars just aren't as green as politicians would have us believe.

If you can't find anything wrong from that sensible list there is always the remote possibility that the shockers are not the right spec, did you compare like for like with an old one and check for length fully open and closed up?
Also depending how they are fitted sometimes you need to lower the car to the ground to load the bushes before final tightening....
Considering buying a new car. Read the HJ reviews on all. Good and bad points for all. Can actual users of these cars advise as to the most reliable and comfortable to drive with best legroom in rear.

Agree with Alby about going for an estate, well van with windows..;)
Should you decide on a C Class be wary of buying a manual, as Alby mentioned above the parking brake doesn't lend itself to easy manual driving, but the main reason being MB make one of the best and nicest to drive auto boxes out there, and you'll struggle to sell a manual MB when the time comes.

Had similar on my other half's Audi A3, the cooling fan would sometimes run continuously and the temperature gauge sometimes showing hot, sometimes cold.
I replaced the coolant sensor and it cured both the starting and fan/temp gauge problems....
