Our 60 reg freelander has drained its battery 3 times in the last 4 months. It is used regularly but not every day for a mixture of driving.

We think the radio might be slow draining the battery as some times there are issues with the radio if you leave it on when turning off ignition.... Read more

So pulled off junction 11 of the M4 to eat at the Madejski hotel on spec since I was passing, as I often have in the past. Had an irritable child in the back. No signs to warn me to keep away.

Quickly got caught up in about 4 hours of traffic jams. Cars forced down routes with no choice whatsoever. Many roads shut. Many roads shut at the end after no warning at the other end where you entered. No directions for any sensible route back out of the chaos.... Read more

I find the same problem if I dare venture out into the rush hour - all those people trying to get to work and impeding my progress - shouldn't be allowed especially as all trips are ;leisure trips now I'm retired.

There are several towns and cities where you'll get the same sort of unannounced congestion every time they remodel a junction - and then find it impedes traffic flow but takes months or years to find a solution.

You're voice recording a conversation with a salesman to protect your consumer rights, yet you've come to a forum to understand what sort of questions to ask when buying a used car. Forgive me, but this feels very lopsided. Shouldnt your query be "What do I need to know about buying a used 1-series?"

Firstly, HJ's advice section on the website covers good diligence when buying a used car, and secondly, you should research consumer information on the precise vehicle you intend to buy, a 1-series in this case, and formulate your own questions. I dont think many people on this forum who might venture a question to your conversation want to implicated if the purchase proves less than satisfactory....

My Audi A6 manual diesel has developed a whine after some 90,000 miles, which is road speed dependent so could come from the gearbox. In last Sunday's Telegraph HJ mentioned using STP oil in such a gearbox to help. Which oil was used, how much put in and how? Read more

Could you give the year and also (importantly) the number of forward speeds.

There was a problem with some 6 speed units which I can throw some light on, although there is no easy fix. Whatever you do, don't feed this transmission on snake oil....

I have recently bought a 96 adventurer and have noticed that on the offside (right) carb the copper pipe running from the top to the bottom of the carb is damaged and I am having trouble starting the bike. I know it is linked to the choke but cannot find a company offering a replacement for this (load showing jets etc). Any ideas anyone. It is my first time posting so hope there is help out there.
