Hi,

I bought this camper a couple of years ago and have spent roughly 10K on all new interior, full respray and engine overall . My problem is going uphill I can only get to 25 and I live at number 65. No on a serious note it struggles going up hill - it is either screaming in 2nd or won't do 3rd, also maximum on the motorway is 40 according to the mechanic. It will only do 55 downhill on the motorway. Is this normal?... Read more

In order for an add on remote locking system to work, the original cdl must operate correctly.I suspect that one or both of the front door locking actuators is faulty.Very common problem on these.hth

Hi I have a c max and have used thule roof bars successfully for a nubre of years. However the threads have rusted where the bolts fit to the roof. What can I do to reslve this an who is likely to be able to do it. I went to the dealer and they didnt really seem to know. Someone suggested fitting a plate over and screwing into that but I wasnt sure about the load bearing capacity. Any suggestions appreaciated.

Do you mean the threads are rusty, but basically sound or do you mean the metal surrounding the mounts is corroded? If the latter, I'd be concerned that any repair should not result in the roof load departing company with the car on the motorway.

I heard a discussion on R4 today about official MPG figures. According to their source, the car makers are allowed to do the measurements themselves, and to manipulate the cars by removing mirrors, blocking radiator grills, replacing the tyres and pumping them up high and so on. So the figures they measure are not accurate.

It is rather disgusting in my view, but the problem is with the authorities who allow it, not the car makers, who have to compete with each other. Read more

And Jaguar got 150mph out of an "adapted" E-type for the launch press road tests - including an unseen undertray to improve the airflow - I'm not sure that any STANDARD E-type could ever get to 150mph !!

the original ride set up for comfort has now gone to wallowing and spongy at 46K miles. I have quotes to have them replaced all round but the Service Centres are vague about the make and ride I will get except Halfords who offered Monroe Gas-Matic. I went on Monroe website to find out more but do not see these. Ideally I want a firmer ride than the original buit I dodnot know how to achieve that. Maybe they all try to replicate the original ride? Anyone know the best type to get ? - I am not doing it on the cheap! - Spongy Read more

The first Vectras had suspension set up for the German market UK customer found it much to hard so the later versions of the UK Vectra had softer suspension. But I agree with TeeCee these cars were never meant to be anything other than repmobiles.

Apart from avoiding short runs from cold starts, is there anything else I can do to protect the DPF on my BMW 520d (177)? Will the use of premium grade fuel improve the life of DPF? And what about the grade of engine oil? Read more
