Started juddering when out the other week. Got car checked for codes. Had misfire on number 3. Changed injector and loom which goes to injectors as told was common fault. Drove car and pulled a bit better but still juddered when foot hard down. Computer said no misfire now though. Took off egr valve and cleaned it but wasnt really thst dirty. Put pipe on egr and sucked to see if opened as was told should do by sucking it. Shoild that work like that ??. Also have changed map sensor and air flow meter but problem still there. Have you got any ideas what else i could try please. Thanks critter442 Read more

Camshaft lobes must be checked for wear ! If these engines have not had the correct spec oil added then the cam lobes wear causing misfire under load! Has the fuel filter been changed ?

"There is nowhere for the sound to pool, so there’s no humming or drumming like there is with a standard pneumatic tyre,” Mr Salas underlined to the news portal.

This is bull. It is largely the flexing of the tread paatern that is responsible for tyre noise. So unless the airless tyre is rigid or treadless, it won't be any quieter than a conventional tyre....

P1621 to P1628 are immobilisers related fault codes, the important thing is to understand what you have used to read the fault codes, as there is plenty of kit out there that will send you on a Wilde goose chase ! Does it actually turn over or is the starter circuit immobilised ? Most common cause of non start is stuck EGR valve and blocked micro fine fuel filter in the fuel pump under the banjo bolt.

plugged into a texa diagnostics machine via a cable as these are non compliant. not doing anything, no action from engine whatsever just died completely. tried phoning ford but they are not interested atall :-)

Hi,

I bought this camper a couple of years ago and have spent roughly 10K on all new interior, full respray and engine overall . My problem is going uphill I can only get to 25 and I live at number 65. No on a serious note it struggles going up hill - it is either screaming in 2nd or won't do 3rd, also maximum on the motorway is 40 according to the mechanic. It will only do 55 downhill on the motorway. Is this normal?... Read more

Hi I have a c max and have used thule roof bars successfully for a nubre of years. However the threads have rusted where the bolts fit to the roof. What can I do to reslve this an who is likely to be able to do it. I went to the dealer and they didnt really seem to know. Someone suggested fitting a plate over and screwing into that but I wasnt sure about the load bearing capacity. Any suggestions appreaciated.

Do you mean the threads are rusty, but basically sound or do you mean the metal surrounding the mounts is corroded? If the latter, I'd be concerned that any repair should not result in the roof load departing company with the car on the motorway.

I heard a discussion on R4 today about official MPG figures. According to their source, the car makers are allowed to do the measurements themselves, and to manipulate the cars by removing mirrors, blocking radiator grills, replacing the tyres and pumping them up high and so on. So the figures they measure are not accurate.

It is rather disgusting in my view, but the problem is with the authorities who allow it, not the car makers, who have to compete with each other. Read more

And Jaguar got 150mph out of an "adapted" E-type for the launch press road tests - including an unseen undertray to improve the airflow - I'm not sure that any STANDARD E-type could ever get to 150mph !!
