If you do buy a Mini be aware of the model change the newer versions apart from being much more reliable there is a tremendous difference in performance have a lowering of the Co2 which means much cheaper road tax along with much higher MPG .

Hi,

My car broke down, aux belt went again. I descided it was not worth fixing the car. the breakdown guy said that they tooks cars for recycling. They took the car. The guy from the company phoned me today, talked V5 and exchange of docs. however there was no mention of its scrap value! I asked the guy and he fudged the question.... Read more

He's not doing you a favour by returning the disc .Only the registered keeper ,you, can recover its value from the dvla .

It could be worthwhile having a word with green flag ,its starting to sound like sharp practice on his part .

my wife wants to buy a motability car, but is unable to get to the dealer to do the necessary stuff, she heard that i could act as nominee and do it as a proxy, does any one know if this is true? many thanks in anticipation of any replies Read more

Yes, it should be no problem at all. We've just been round this question with Motability, as my mother had a stroke but she was the only nominee on the contract - although to be fair, this was an existing contract. They sent us the very simple form that as needed to add my father, the only issue is that my mother can't sign the authority as she is physically incapable of doing so. I hit one jobsworth at Motability, kept quoting "data protection", but everyone else there applied some common sense in our case. You should have no problem.

Dan Agombar asks an interesting question- Are beloved petrol lovers missing out? Is this the end of manual transmission?

Happily the C7 Corvette is still comes with row-your-own as standard. Even more happily, the majority of Corvette buyers opt for the manual. (its a lot cheaper than most supercars, so you won't look like a hedge fund manager if you buy one either). The OHV V8 is still doling out large slices of humble pie to the quad-cam carbuncles to boot.

Being taught a lesson in driving from the Americans-that is sad!

Brokers rather than direct insurers. Limited reviews on the web - came across 3 (2010, 2012 and 2013) using Google. I'd be inclined to find out which insurance company the insurance would be placed with, and look at their track record as well.
