I have a whirling sound on my Focus the abs warning light came on. In the morning the battery was flat but the car started after a few mins charging. On moving the car to its normal parking spot the abs light would come on if the steering and brake applied at the same time.The battery is less than a year old.The fan belt looks OK and is correctly tensioned. If your battery drops from 12.7 to 12.2 volts after standing 2 hours with all the fuses pulled you have a dead battery unless there is a power leakage that pulling the fuses does not affect. Try disconnecting the earth after stopping the car, if the voltage drops the same your battery is definitely knack3red.

i have a golf 4 gti 1.8 turbo when it gets down to quater of a tank of fuel it starts cutting out (completely stops) its happened 3 times now . its fine till it hits quater of a tank. its not the fuel because it starts up again and goes fine for 30 -40 miles the cuts again. can any one please help. 1.9 cdti 150 bhp 16v , 215000 miles just had cylinder hd off ,hd was put bk with new hd gaskit with full gaskit kit, new inlet manifold,new map sensor , new hd bolts, new inj seals, new exhaust temp sensor .{ fault code was p2279) that all clear now, no fault codes or warning lights just smoking , acceleration and idle tick is fine , smoke smells like burning rubber ? If its black smoke it could be being starved of air, check the filter and inlet trunking.
i tow a caravan and after a little more power. im thinking there are too many miles on the clock? but i do an oil change every 6-8k anyway, so maybe not too bad?

Forget all about chipping this engine, its already got a reputation for fragility, and at this mileage it will be nicely bedded in. changing things will likely bring about its destuction.
Change it for a 2.0 TDCI if you need more power, much better....
Anyone know good reasonably priced place to stay in New York - I would rather have an apartment as it will be myself & my daughter - and am wondering if somewhere within commuter distance from NYC might better, rather than in the centre for mucho money! Read more

I have recently had my car diagnosed with this P0251 fault. I have read quite a few of your posts on this,but would like to give more info and ask some questions. I've had starting difficulties for a long time, the engine cranks over and seems to fire on 2 or 3 cylinders with the orange management on, runs a few seconds and picks up to all firingon all 4 and the light goes out. once started it runs smoothly. yesterday I started it and although it stared as normal the light didn't go out. i started to drive (about 100 yards) and the engine cut out I restarted it and the same thing happened. after the fault was diagnosed I decided to check the fuel filter and on removing the pipe from filter to high pressure pump there was no fuel flowing even when the engine is being cranked over. I know ther is a electric plift pump somewhere, could this have failed or would the management system stop it working. Could the hp pump be gravity fed from a separate tank to test? any help woud be appreciated. I know there could be hp pump issues or injector problems, everything looks clean, no fuel or oil leaks.... Read more
This fault code relates to a problem with the fuel pressure regulation valve.However faults with injectors or fuel supply can create a similar effect.There is no in=tank pump on these,so yu will not get fuel delivery from the filter under ignition or crank.It is possible to gravity feed the main hp pump.hth
My daughters mazda 2 has developed a knocking sensation on sharp cornering, particularly at low speed.
Mazda dealer says well known problem and has regreased steering column on several occasions with only temporary effect. Independant mechanic suspects it is more serious and needs attention.... Read more
