I agree with Ed V.

I have driven both a 1.8 petrol Civic and a 2.2 CDTi. Ride is quite hard and fidgety....

Am I right in thinking that Brent produces very little or no fuel for diesel, and that most diesel fuel in the UK is imported? Might have something to do with the slow acceptance of diesel engined cars in Britain.

North Sea oil is very high grade, for crude oil, so it's mostly exported or used directly unrefined in Scottish coastal power stations....

Yup - guess I have to take it on the chin. I thought as much, really. Just wondered if I had any recourse.

As an update to my OP, the insurance co have paid out now and as one would expect - it's below the value of the car, but at least I can draw a line under that part and now concentrate on my claim/complaint with highways RE liability and claiming back my excess. Incidentally, now my insurer has seen all of my pictures and report, they have said that they are going for full recovery of losses as the thing was that bad.

The chip in key in my 307 appears to open the doors only.

Just had another look to make sure, it is as I said works in the car perfectly its a basic key no innards issued from Peugeot when the car was new.

Hi all,

I want to buy a new car from a dealership (as I have had bad experience going private) - can you please recommend any reliable honest dealerships where I can get a good price, honest salesman and a well looked after car?... Read more

RT

They're on the list because they're recommended by users.

Isn't that the flaw with the "system" ? Everyone with a horror story about a dealership wouldn't have to look far to find someone else who thought they were the bees knees....

The '163,000' politics thread was getting a little long, time for a reboot.

I just wanted to ask the Back Room what you thought of the fact that while the country goes to hell, our elected masters spent actual measurable time arguing over taxing 7 large homes in Kensington today. The Lib Dems want a 'mansion tax' but because Labour proposed the motion on said mansion tax, the Lib Dems voted with the Tories against the mansion tax.... Read more

I need some help please.... we used to have a Pajero and I have to say I loved my big chunky girl but due to rising costs we had to get rid and we went for a laid back Prius! at only £10 a year road tax and nearly 500 miles to a tank of petrol it has been a dream.... but we have recently moved out of London to Kent and we are surrounded by b***** hills!! My poor Hybrid is having a fit on the school run every day and today with all the snow I really missed my Pajero.... so we are now thinking about getting a 4x4 but we really want an econimical car which is not going to kill us with the tax/insurance and petrol cost! we have about £5000 to spend but we do not know which car to start looking at... any help is much appreciated X Thanks X Mandy X Read more
