I recieved a PCN for (1) Excise Number:OBSCURED - the tax disc was placed into the vehicle when we bought it 6 years ago and there has never been an issue - it has an airbag sticker (see through) on the window but you can fully see the disc (photo taken on the day for evidence which will match the parking attendants ones!) Also Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours - I was not parked on the road - I was parked on 'open' land in front of a building on the other side of a pavement - this is parked on all the time - no obstruction of the pavement as the open land is as wide as my car - it is not pavement as it is cobbled in patches. I was therefore not parked in the 'street' . Is this a legal ticket? I will be appealing as I have photogrpahic evidence I was not parked in the street and that my tax disc is not obscured. Read more
I bought a car 6 weeks ago - it was a cat C car and was immaculate with only 15000 miles on the clock .
I literally drove it for two weeks not even doing 100 miles - when it overheated. The message said stop the car and so my husband stopped the car waited for it to cool down - (and the message to go off) he added some water and finished his journey - the message came on again at the end of the journey. ... A leak should have been spotted before they sold you the car. Tell the seller that you intend to take them to the small claims court on the basis of the vehicle was not fit for purpose.
Hi all, bit of a boring non techical question! Just bought an 06 ex rental luton, bodywork and cab are in nice condition, but inside of luton box is quite marked as tie rails are only present high up in the van, so obviously stuff was hitting sides alot in its 8 year rental useage. I cleaned it earlier with water and bleach but still alot of marks. Can I spray it? (it is white obviously!), I just thought I'd spray the 2 box sides and luton overhead bit (inside), to make it look clean ( I run a small removal company). Is this possible as its plastic, and I need something that won't rub off onto whatever I put in the van (furniture etc). Thanks. Read more
thanks but that adds too much weight.
I apparently caused a slight dent to a car whilst changing lanes,I have just recieved a notice of intent to prosecute. The car didn't stop at the time or alert me to the 'fact' that I'd collided with it ( I honestly did not feel anything, nor see anything, but I did see car stop behind me and I wondered why! the car caught up with me again futher down road at lights, but did not beep me or try to get my attention at all!). So in all honesty I did not know that I hit this car (must have just brushed it with the tip of the back of my luton van).
Can I be done for failing to stop, or failing to report if I was genuingly unaware of the incident? I accept that I can probably be done for reckless driving as I am aware I did change lanes a bit swiftly, I was driving behind this car that seemed to be braking for no reason ( you know the ones), police said she reported that I was tailgaiting her, but to be honest she was kind of racing me futher back up the road ( I say sort of - we weren;t speeding, just playing silly b*****s trying to get in front, stupid now looking back, its strange but somedays I don't give a damn, and others I'm zipping in and out of traffic, which is pointless really. Apparantly the damage is very minor, just a slight dent on front wing, (the car looked like it was worth less than £500) how badly can I get done for this?? I only have 3 points on my licence for jumping a red light 2 years ago, and I am otherwise not a bad driver. There were no witnesses but seeing as it was on a busy main road probably cameras somewhere. And please don't think I'm a boy racer, just a bit rash at times, which I am now of course regretting as I don't want my insurance premium to put me out of business! Thanks for reading. Read more
no futher action
Hi, not exactly a technical question! But bought an ex hire 06 daily luton, I do removals so it needs to look clean, the outside and cab are great, but inside the luton box is really marked, I cleaned it today with bleach and water but still alot of marks - to be expected on an 8 yr old hire van! Does anyone know whether I can spray the inside of the box (just the 2 plastic sides and luton overhead bit). Also I want to fit some new tie rails, wooden ones to tie strapping to, any help on this? thanks. Read more
I think acrylic paint will probably stick to plastic but if you have any aluminium its difficult to get paint to stick well. Buy a can of touch up paint and try it.
Trying to read some some fault codes on a 2007 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI, but the scanner cannot detect the PCM. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. H@AJ Read more
And what does SNAP-ON say??
I was driving on thr M4 motorway, early morning, clear road no traffic whatsoever. I was hit from behind by a Transit van, high impact resulting in the total loss of my car not to mention neck and chest injuries and ribs that are still excrutiatingly painful. Now, a month on i discover that the other driver is disputing liability alleging that i must have fallen asleep!!!!! I cannot comprehend how this so called driver can now allege that i caused the accident. I was on my way to work, perfectly wide awake, driving at 50mph, how was this my fault??? Read more
>going to cost me my job possiby now as i cant get to work without my car...
My 10 yr car has an intermittent fault displaying low brake fluid. My local garage has diagnosed as fault code 5383, brake fluid sensor electrical fault. No live feed is reaching the sensor. It has been suggested to take my car to peugeot as there could be a wiring loom issue.
This sounds potentially expensive and I'm seeking advice as to whether to proceed or not. Has anyone any experience of electrical faults and garages? My car is 10years old and 150k on the clock. Going well but the fly wheel is starting o squeak, tyres and cam belt all looming. Thanks. Read more
Just got a new car and the speedometer dial is ONLY calibrated in MPH.
I cannot remember being in any UK car less than 40 years old that did not have secondary KPH calibration inside the MPH markings as well.... Read more
The Vauxhall Senator with the digital dash could do that - I took great delight in frightening my passengers on a high speed run by suddenly switching from 127 mph to 204 kph without telling them !!
I have a 2000 1.8 16v Vectra with aprox 112k on the clock, recently, it's having some cold running issues. Starts up straight away (I think it used to rev at just over 1000rpm when cold but now runs at normal warm tickover), but until the engine is warm if you try to pull away it stalls or misfires, if you leave it to warm up it will run all day without problem, it's perfect. I'm definitely no expert and by reading various other forums have carried out the yellow wire mod, replaced the plugs, ignition pack, maf sensor and coolant temp sensor, but its still the same. Any ideas please?
Thanks for your time. Read more
I can confirm (from bitter experience) that often land behind the footway next to a road with parking restrictions is subject to those same parking restrictions, if owned by the local authority.
The advice to check the legal status of the land you were parked on is good.
