Mazda 6 - 2008 Mazda 6 - No/Lost alloy key and correct tyre - adburns

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could offer some advice please?

I have a 2008 1.8 Mazda 6 TS and I went to have the tyres changed on it and relised I don't have nut key to unlock the wheels.

I wasn't aware I needed such a thing as I've never had a car with alloys before.

The place where I went to get the tyres changed said that they can basically remove them using a special tool but they would be ruined after that.

As I understand it, I would then need to buy replacements but I'm wondering if I would need to buy them specifically from Mazda?

Also, I was wondering what best size tyre I should get? Atm the car has a set of 205/60/r16 but I have read in the manual that you can also have 195/65/r16. I was wondering which size would be best?

Thanks

Mazda dealers will have a set of master keys that will remove the locking nuts with no damage.

It is normally cheaper to buy a new set of nuts with a key than to simply buy a key.

If you do eventually decide to fit non-standard wheels and tyres of a non-standard size you will need to inform your insurers.
