My Audi A6 manual diesel has developed a whine after some 90,000 miles, which is road speed dependent so could come from the gearbox. In last Sunday's Telegraph HJ mentioned using STP oil in such a gearbox to help. Which oil was used, how much put in and how? Read more

I have recently bought a 96 adventurer and have noticed that on the offside (right) carb the copper pipe running from the top to the bottom of the carb is damaged and I am having trouble starting the bike. I know it is linked to the choke but cannot find a company offering a replacement for this (load showing jets etc). Any ideas anyone. It is my first time posting so hope there is help out there. I wrote a review a few months ago for my t5 transporter kombi van. I can still see it in my profile but cannot find it anywhere on the site. They used to appear on the main model page.
Does anyone know where they are now displayed? Read more
Hello HJ,
Did you have any luck with owner reviews?...
Hi
I have a 2003 1.5s Almera which has done me in good stead over the past 5 years, it has 80k miles on it. I have noticed over the past couple of months a random squeak coming from my engine. Seems to be below 1500 revs and isnt constant. I had a garage look at it and they couldnt explain it as everything is working as it should be. Im not losing any power, drive is the same as always and there are no engine management lights coming on and its not burning oil (cant see any leaks either).... Read more
Thanks folks, I'll look into that
New to the board so be nice,
At Aprils end I'll have £5500 max to get a decent second hand car & trading in my 03 corsa along with it, ( so looking at £6k -£6.3k range)
Currently driving 11-12k per year,
Am I best with a diesel? What models should I be looking to avoid etc?
Any advice appreciated,

"But we had him in the end."
I think it was just a tongue-in-cheek comment meaning that he eventually managed to overtake the cyclist, who by the sound of it could have pulled over to the side of the road sooner....

I have a bit more sympathy for the original poster - it's his car to do what he likes with and the VAG service shedules have not distinguished themselves in terms of long term benefits to the owner.
I bought my Superb with the balance of a manufacturer's warranty. I also decided that it would be in the best interests of long term ownership to make an oil and filter change before the warranty expired. I dont buy oil or filters from VAG (not on my list of favoured sources) - and they don't make them anyway....
I have a Peugeot 308 (2010), that I have had from new. For the last two years, I have been experiencing an intermittant fault involving power loss when I have been pulling away. The car creeps forward for approx 2-3 seconds then takes off at normal speed.

I'd rather have a Berlingo - the ride quality in the Jazz is bone-shaking.
Not the latest one.. Which year did you last travel in one and which model?

Could you give the year and also (importantly) the number of forward speeds.
There was a problem with some 6 speed units which I can throw some light on, although there is no easy fix. Whatever you do, don't feed this transmission on snake oil....
