a 2001 model,bought 5 months ago.drives fine.just had top service.bosch plugs,ford oil filter,ford petrol filter,& pollen filter,full synthetic oil.drives great,im hearing lots of differant stories about round town petrol consumption,none of which are the same,i know shouldnt worry about petrol if you bought v6,car has done 80,000mls,ford service history full,the digital miles per gallon clock is reading 20 mls to the gallon or 5litres.driving very carefull.can i rely on thisdigi clock,most people are saying they get 28mls to gal round town,or are they dreaming,or have i a fault thats not showing up.thanks. Purchased 2009 Superb greenline 4 weeks ago, all in order, but only this week the boot lid refused to open, this version has two options to open in, sedan or hatchback, there is 2 handles at the back for opening the boot, middle one for opening as a sedan, 2nd one press it and rear brake light flashes twice and two motors sound to open as a hatchback, none of this is happening now, when you lock the car too the hazards dont flash. i did get a parrot phone kit installed on wedenesday last, problem occurred on thur mid day- is this the root of the problem? I got into the boot to use the emergency opening by slotting the drivers key into the lock but only opened an inch or so as one of the wing motors was in the locked position, was able to undo a screw to release the lug that the motor holds itself onto. ended up leaving off the motor completely and having to get myself into the boot to open it and thats a pain.

Getting a lound noise from the top end. Not plug loose as seems tight in head with no gunk in coil tube.

If the valve timing has slipped a couple of teeth ,then you could be lucky.If the chain has broken it is good bye 16 valves.It is the same engine that is fitted in the Mini from around 2006 onwards.
I'm interested in buying a new car and a main dealer has a couple of the model/spec I'm looking for...at a large discount to the list price. Only issue I can see is that they are 62 reg. so have been sitting around for several months.

hi all hope someone can help me here. after recently buying my merc' ive noticed it has a sport and what my friend said "winter mode" i'm guessing winter is for slippy conditions. do you have to have one or other switched on or can u have the switch at middle position so it does neither untill you want them?

@Avant it's the 250d. I think I'm right in saying it's the same basic engine as the 200d and the 220d but in a higher state of tune at around 200bhp. I think they're all 4 pot 2.1s in the end. Goes well enough for me though !
This has been interesting though about the nomenclature of the settings. I guess I had assumed "S" was "sport" but I'm more than willing to be persuaded otherwise....

Start at the vacuum pump, remove the hose, start and let the engine idle, put a finger on the outlet (or inlet as it is vacuum) from the vacuum pump you should feel the vacuum.
Refit the hose then remove the hose from the servo and you should feel the same vacuum as the vacuum pump....
have leak in steering rack on 2007 renault trafic 2 litre ,does anyone have any experience of this problem or could anyone tell me if means a new rack or is possible to replace seals on the end of origanal rack .thanks to anyone who reads this or even more to anyone who can advice,thanks again Read more
Some of the radio buttons on my car have a surface imperfection, this manifests itself as a crinkled surface, it looks to be a manufacturing fault.

I have just tried to buy a car from a dealer in Liverpool. The car was a 2009 Black 320D SE The car was advertised with full service history, 53700 miles at £9700, which I thought was a low price. Working on the old adage, if something seems to be too good to be true, that would normally be the case. Before driving over to see the car, I did an HPI check and discovered the car had done 132,000.
I phoned Cheshire Police to report this potential fraud. They did not want to know saying this was a matter for Trading standards. I am very unhappy with that response and the fact they would not deal with a crime. I will write a letter of complaint to the Chief Constable. I also tried calling the police in Liverpool, they were much more helpful, took all the details and said they would follow it up. They also said I should contact trading standards, which I intend to do.... Read more

I have a v6 golf, and the mpg readout is often way off the mark, I reckon your best clocking it from the pump on your odometer .
Having said that 24 round town is a distant dream for me, that mondeo engine must be more frugal than this vw lump.
Keep the v6 dream alive.
