Have you had any experience of or reports about www.happynewcar.co.uk? They seem to be offering great deals on pre-registered new cars, ordered to your own spec. Being second registered keeper doesn't bother me, as I'll keep the car for years. Read more

You have to pay them a deposit and pay them for the vehicle so there's the risk of dealing with a broker that you don't get if you buy via others like drive the deal. They have a poor credit rating that would make me wary so I'd look elsewhere for the same price or better and some comfort factor.

On HJ's Telegraph page there's a post from someone whose car failed the MOT due to a headlamp washer not working. I've noticed that most versions of the German marques (A4+, 5 Series+, and Mercs and Volvo-who think pioneered headlamp wipers and SAABs) have headlamp washer/wipers fitting as standard.

Why are the Germans and Scandavians so keen on this accessory? Volkswagen seem to shun this although a fair number of Seats and Skoda seem to include them. Are headlamp washers that effective? I understand that they only operate when the headlights are on. Read more

What happened to those wondrous materials that we saw on "Tommorrow's World" that meant that dirt never stuck to windows?

Hi all

In a bit of a predicament over my next car. I have around £7000-£8000 to spend and have been looking at a Ford Fiesta Zetec S 09-12 but had last minute thoughts when I saw a few nice VW golf's mk 6 1.4. I understand that they are totally different cars ie one being fun and the other more suited to comfort. Anybody have any suggestions? Sorry about the 'bitty' info I am trying to message from my iPhone.

Many Thanks Read more

I think it also depends on what sort of journeys you will be doing:

If you have a lengthy commute or drive a lot of motorways and dual carriageways, maybe the Golf is a better bet....

Another improbable story. A colleague followed her husband home the other day and noticed sparking from the BMWs run flat tyres. Husband was doubtful at the tale but swapped cars around and saw it for himself. A 'garage' could not see any problems.

At work we debated whether the carcase wires were protruding (easy to spot surely) or if flinty stones were lodged in the tread. ... Read more

A real MOT garage reports the tyres were worn down to the metal wire.

Words fail me.

hi i have recently purchased a 54 plate mazda 6.after driving to work i noticed it misfires at a certain point on accelarator in 5 th gear between 70-80 mph i had a diagnostic check which only came back with egr valve blockage which i have had cleaned can anyone suggest why it would misfire thank you Read more

Unfortunately the Mazda 6 is a poor excuse for a diesel engine, especially if it has a DPF. Make sure you keep a close eye on the oil level & get it changed if it rises much.

Your symptoms could be associated with an EGR sticking open as well as a lot of other things. Did the garage clean it properly & check its function after, or did they just throw some snake oil at it....

Hi hope some one can help me with this anoying problem i'm having with the remote central locking with my car.

In short the keyless central locking isn't working - it will only work if i put the key in and lock manually, take the key out and press the key then the remote button works but once only. It will only unlock with the remote button if I have locked with the above sequence and once only. Wierd... Read more
