I bought my car in May 2004 and up until the last year it has needed nothing more than tyres, spark plugs, a battery etc. The usual stuff. It has 130,000 on the clock.
Since January the car has been in and out of the garage with a variety of issues. I've worked out that I've spent almost £1,500 on it this year alone (this included a new clutch and alternator). It now has an intermittent dashboard fault. I drive along and suddenly all dials go to zero and the digital displays go to dashes. Then maybe 5-10 mins later it comes back again. Sometimes it lasts the whole drive. I have to use my sat nav to work out what speed I'm doing instead. The only dial that works all the time is my petrol one. My other current issue is my air con won't switch off at all. So I'm going through fuel like nobodies business.... Read more
Thanks for your reply. I know that the A/C stays on when set to the windscreen. I've had the car 9 years :)
But it's staying on ALL the time, even when you've pressed the button off and it's directed at you, not the windscreen. Just to clarify that point. ...
I am looking at purchasing 58 plate Mini Cooper S but the mileage is 79k. The price seems quite good at £8000 but I'm not sure if it would be better to buy an older mini with lower mileage.
I like this car and it has the lower tax as well as some great features, but I have always had low mileage cars in the past and this mileage worries me slightly.
I intend to keep the car for up to 5 years and in the past 5 years have only averaged 6,500 miles per year. This car has a full mini service history and only one owner, but that's all I really know.
I would really appreciate any advice.

Yes, but that focussed on pre-2008 Minis which 'should' let this one out. However it has been a busy car, which I suppose may be a good thing in a way?

The headlights on these are controlled by 2 relays in the fuse box.It is not unusual for the sockets/pins to become corroded or overheated.Also check the connector at the back of the indicator/lighting stalk.hth

Have a problem with my radio. Just want to hear other ideas before I replace.
The radio is asking for the code.
I have the correct code for the serial number, but whenever it is entered, nothing happens. And it simply asks for code again.
Occasionally the radio will work for a short period, sometimes for a few trips, sometimes for a couple of weeks.
It is really frustrating, and want to know what is causing it, or if it can be fixed before replacing unit completely!
I also have a friend who has the same issue in a transit connect.
Any ideas?

I bought my RS new in 2010, for 15 months the car performed beautifully. Then in June last year the engine light came on, 15 months later 16 visits to my local ford dealer and numerous sensors replaced, they are unable to fix the issue. The car does not show any signs of temperature or any other problems with gauges. Does anyone else have a problem of this kind?.. I am desperate for answers.

They still make the Persona (which we know as the Gen-2) which dates back to 2007, the Saga FLX - a saloon version of the Savvy -, and the Satria Neo.
