Just took one of our cars into the Ford Garage yesterday, A 2008 Mondeo Estate as the Air Con was not very effective, and they diagnosed a "punctured condensor" (probably caused by a flying stone ) requiring a new one at £480.00 fitted
I declined this as it seemed rather expensive, paid them £ 60 for the diagnosis and took it today to a local Air Con specialist for a second opinion.... Read more
Pretty much all condensers on cars that have seen a few years of service are punctured - often in several places. If you put washing up water in a squeezy bottle and remove the grille and cover the condensor with the liquid, you will almost certainly see cuckoo spit forming in a few places. It thus amazes me how slowly it does leak.
It is also illegal for the garage to regas if they know there is a leak, so it's a case of better for your wallet to not look to deeply and just regas every year.

No, it was an 04 model but according to the KIA dealer they were the same item.
It was just a warning that whilst some of these cars are excellent there can be failings.
seat belt warning light stays on even when belts are worn.on very odd occasions light goes off.

Can anyone explain the funtion of the 4th connection on the diesel fuel filter on the 2013 model. There are two pipes, presumably fuel in and out, a posidrive screw for bleeding the air out and the connection I am enquiring about which is between these. It is an upturned pipe with a plastic cap on the end of it.. Is it for draining the fuel tank via a pump, since the tank filling pipe has an anti-syphon mesh where it joins the tank? Read more
Some misunderstanding crept in here. I am not suggesting changing any parts, just how to drain the tank if the need ever arises. Is the tube with a cap, on the filter, for this purpose.
Quire right to ,however wouldn't it be better if addictive drugs ,cocaine ,heroin ,crack etc were made available to registered users , The cost of policing drug crime and the treatment of health problems resulting from drug misuse ,must vastly outweigh the cost of proving the drugs on prescription .

Is there any way to check whether a claim has ever been made on my daughter's insurance ? My reason for asking is that she has no recollection of any documentation regarding a minor off-road incident but because the other driver said he was making a claim she has always assumed a claim had been made, some 3 years ago now and declares accordingly on her renewals. She can't remember which insurance company held cover at the time of the incident. Read more
Your courtesy is appreciated. I am concerned that the insurer appears to have settled a claim without properly involving your daughter. Can you ask to see any documentation showing that your daughter was in agreement with their action ? if they haven't then I think they have acted incorrectly. I expect the Speed Awareness Course question has been put there to pick up any drivers who would otherwise have had points on the licence and have to pay a higher premium. Anyone taking the course will have been stopped by the police for speeding and be considered a higher risk. The onus now is on insurers to ask the right questions and I think it is a legitimate question.

new to the forum!! I have an 807 2.2 HDi on a 53 plate when using my OBD11 flash my power failed in the laptop while downloading the file from the ecu. I can no longer get access. I have upgraged to Lexia 3 PP2000 diagnostic recognises vehicle but will not connect or cannot communicate with ecu. I have decided to try another ecu after main dealersaid they cannot help. I have an EDC15C2 Bosch 0281011363 large 04 cannot find exact ecu can I use another ecu from a 2.2 HDi 807 which I am being offered by breakers... Read more
I can get the keycode but the point is that I cannot communicate with the MAIN ECU so obviously I cannot upload the origial file which I previously saved. It runs through the menu of the various function but against each one is 'CANNOT COMMUNICATE' so basically the ECU has lost all its info ie the chip has been wiped. I really need to know will any 2.2 hdi ecu work if I upload the master file.
