Hi
I asked why I couldn't get reverse gear and the answer was that the pin had dropped out of the external mechanism. How much will this cost to fix? Read more
Does anyone on here have any views or experience of the Fiesta 1.4 LX and what it's like to drive fur commuting?
Reason I ask is that my R reg 306 is on its last legs, though its lasted well and a friend has said about their 2002 Fiesta LX - it's a 1.4 petrol engine with 42k on the clock, good condition, MOT and recent service etc. I would be using it mostly to get to and from work which is an 80 mile round trip each day, no motorway driving though, my route is two A roads with several villages as well as several steep hills to go up and down so not a case of getting up to 70 and staying there on a motorway!
My petrol 1.6 306 would average about 38-40 litres each week to do the 5 day commute so would the Fiesta be able to better this? (Obviously ideally it'd be diesel but there's few diesels going in my budget (3k) that are in good condition or not huge mileage))
Thanks for any views/opinions! Read more
Buy a Yaris d4d about the same age.

No, the timing belt is called a toothed belt. A groove in longitudinal. Regards Peter
My polo was very lumpy during idle, it was due a service and when the plugs were changed No 4 was sooty. The mechanic plugged his computer in and no fault codes came up and suggested changing the coil pack, this made no difference and he also did a compression test and all was ok. Has anybody any ideas as to where to look next.
Thanks. Read more
+1. Notice how BP & Shell may have fixed prices.
The letter regarding a very minor collision, after which the other driver claimed, absurdly, to have been injured. Interesting. For those of you who might not have been paying close attention, the clue here was the location of the incident - Bolton, in Lancashire. This was at one point the "crash for cash" capital of the universe. The buses there were the first ones to have video cameras on permanent recording mode pointing forwards through the windscreen, because they were plagued by drivers who would slam their brakes on deliberately, cause a crash, after which all five of the car's occupants would jump out wincing and rubbing their necks.
Anyone who has spent time in the lovely hamlet of Bolton will know what I am getting at here.... Read more
Taqiyya is the word.
My Nissan Note Tekna was 2 years old in February and has circa 26,000 miles on the clock. Recently (within the last month) the lacquer has begun to peel off from two areas on the front and both patches are getting worse. My Nissan dealer has sent photos of the affected areas to Nissan who say it is stone damage and are not interested.
I genuinely think this is a copout and the paintwork is not fit for purpose.... Read more

Hi all - I've just changed to a 2010 Focus 1.6 Zetec and have noticed what I can only describe as 2 small circular inserts, approx 8-10 mm diameter, in the top of the engine cover (cam cover?). These are hollow and threaded on the inside as if to accept bolts but currently have nothing screwed into them. Has anyone any idea what these are for, please, and is it normal for there to be nothing attached?
Many thanks Read more
>>Just wondering whether these holes need to be plugged in order to prevent debris entering or engine oil to be forced out.
If engine oil ain't falling out, don't bother!...
