"I would like to put the lower rear bumper of an ML550 on my 2013 ML350 Bluetec. It looks like it may be relatively inexpensive. Does anybody know the part number for this, the cost, and how much labor is involved? Has anyone done this? I just think the ML550 AMG style painted rear lower looks much nicer and it seems like one of the cheaper items to change out to get the look." ...Pleased reply.. Read more
I bought a second hand car with 27000mi 2007 plate that has found to have a serious engine problem after 6 weeks (knocking cylinders and carbon bulid). I asked for it to be repaired under warranty telling them of the problem (had OBD diag report) and it's almost certainly carbon build up.
They had it for 10 days at a BMW garage (his mates garage basically) and added engine cleaner in the fuel and changed the spark plugs and returned it with 160 miles extra on the clock. They said this had worked, there was no need to remove the gasket and there were no other problems.... Read more
"...yes it's 27,000 miles and it's very common on these types of cars around this mileage. They are the first generation direct injection engines."
I don't want to sound uncharitable, but you admit you know this is a common problem but still went ahead and bought the car, which you like for other reasons. Either you accept the risk, or you don't buy the car....

A couple of replies up, the webpage link is given for you to obtain the code.
I have recently purchased this vehicle.
I have noticed that when I turn on the ignition but don't start the car I can hear something like a small motor running. This sound is very quiet and is coming from somewhere behind the dashboard, but it is definitely there.... Read more
Thank you for your valued reply, elekie&a/c doctor.
I know from your previous posts that you have extensive experience of working in this sort of areas of vehicles and, in fact, when I posted my question, you were the Forum Member who I had hoped would reply!...
My wife parked her car on a retail car park from 8.14pm to 10.33pm to attend a church concert . No signs were immediately apparent and we have often used this car park during shopping hours so were unaware of any restrictions . Apart from one other car we were the only vehicles in the car park . She has now received a charge notice for £70 or £50 if paid before the 21st april from TPS. Her surname is misspelt on the form . Does this make any difference ? Should she offer £10 and hope that this will end the matter . As pensioners this is a lot of money to pay when we inconvenienced no-one and the stores were all closed .
An urgent reply would be appreciated ! Read more
Don't send £10, the loons in the PPC assylum will only send it back. With the new regime it is far better to give them both barrels and demonstrate you are up for a fight.
Visit pepipoo, they have people who will help you free of charge and pick holes in everything you have received so far. When you get your ticket cancelled give your £10 to them to keep the site running.
When fitting Winter tyres, can these be narrower than the summer tyres specified for the vehicle ?
Thinking of fitting 205 55 16 tyres on suitable steel rims, on the car that was originally fitted with 235 45 R 17s on alloys or could be specified with 215 55 R 16s on alloys.... Read more
My Primera came with 215/50/17 tyres, I've swapped to 205/60/16 using original Nissan alloys, the insurance company is aware and there is no problem - summer and winter tyres. There is the added benefit that the smaller tyres are much cheaper to buy.
I have recently purchased a Nissan Note 1.4 with 33k on clock. It ran perfectly for one week returning 48mpg.Out of blue engine felt a little lumpy with power tending to surge when pressing the throtte.Fault appeared to disappear as I was going to return it to the garage then later that night the fault returned & the engine management light came on,Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is before I call in at the garage as they may try to fob me off.

Garage read fault codes & said it was the oxygen sensor that was at fault causing the engine to run rich.Parts ordered to be done Monday.
Have had a intermittent electrical problem for many months now, all dial needles bounce up and down battery/steering light comes on most warning lights on dash flash and on occasion can loose power steering. If I stop and turn of ignition when this fault is occurring can have problems restarting, car totally dead but will eventually start after many attempts. Have had into Vauxhall on several occasions but unable to diagnose fault as it is usually not there when I take car in. Have had battery checked its ok.
Loss of steering is now a bit concerning, any ideas ? Read more
Carefully check and clean your battery connections, if that doesn't help it could be a faulty alternator. If you have a meter, connect it to your cigar lighter so you can see it when you are driving and check the voltage, you shouls have about 14.4v in normal driving, watch it when the fault occurs, if the voltage drops much below this you have a charging fault.
My Citroen Xsara is overheating but this only happens after a journey and the car is idle gear,no idea what's happening any help please Read more

Have to agree totally with the previous poster. As a future classic I have a Vauxhall Calibra. There are some with subtle and tasteful body modifications about but some body kits are horrendous. My only thoughts are to change the side repeaters as the standard 80s/90s Vauxhall offering look ,like a bolt on extra!...
