Hi everyone, ive scoured the internet for the last week trying to get an answer, so here i am.

I replaced my grand scenic rear disks and pads and used a rewind tool to put the pistons back in, refitted everything, and now the handbrake doesnt apply on the drivers side. brakes a little spongy but this could be a separate issue (wife drives it usually).... Read more

Just to add, ive been out and had a look under it just now - the arm on the caliper that controls the handbrake is 'loose' and in all honestly is doing b***** all. is there a way of resetting the arm?

What comments do you have on the de Verde Hydrogen-on-Demand System and how it affects vehicle performance?
Even if feeding Hydrogen into the engine inlet manifold improves fuel burning effieciency I find it difficult to believe that the rate of Hydrogen and volume produced by the system is enough to make a difference. Read more

I've got a few older cars that I want to keep on the road but the MOT is a pain in the a***.

It seems to me like it's become a license for the manufacturers, the whole of the motor industry, to swindle the poor consumer.... Read more

car drivers want the technology, so ultimately they must pay for it.

Hmmm. The real reason is that when demand for Model A runs down because everyone who wants one has one, makers have to find a way to sell Model B - usually by adding the gismos other makers are fitting to their Model B. Doesn't necessarily mean the public demands the gismos. So now cars have detectors for underinflated tyres, which if they fail also mean a MoT fail and a hefty bill to fix. So cars are scrapped with even higher residual values than they were....

Hi,

I have a Toyota Avensis 2.0 vvti (t25) and I occasionally have the idle drop down to around 600rpm. I got the throttle body cleaned at a garage and on the drive home the idle started dropping as low as 400rpm. I have reset the ecu and the idle has improved a little but its still not right. What I have found is that if I drive the car its fine for about 30 minutes but after this the idle drops to below 600 and the car shakes alot.

The throttle body doesnt seem to have a removable idle valve, any suggestions on what else could be causing this?

Thanks

Watching the political programmes on the UKIP situation, the topic of the EU memebership has reared its head again.

This occured in 1975 and several generations have passed who never voted for it and who now are dead against it and want to leave. As born out by UKIPs increasing success.... Read more

The reality is more complicated. Of course big banks leveraged themselves badly, became too dependent on credit and exposed themselves to ridiculous problems. A few of them even broke the law and manipulated lending rates but the role of both national and international Government is more frightening to me.

No. The problem was primarily one of bad debt. American financial institutions sold mortgages to people who could not pay. And that debt was sold to banks, and other financial institutions, in America and round the world. And when it became clear that a lot of the debt was near worthless, confidence collapsed, as no-one knew which institutions might collapse. Fortunately Gordon Brown saved the world.

And then there were the usual problem of bubbles. Ireland had a huge housing boom, which burst. And Gordon Brown increased public spending to huge levels.
