Can anyone help please ? I have a 2007 Renault Megane Dymonique Coupe, it has 12,000 miles on the clock and in great condition although I had to have the roof re sealed after a water leak. My driver side electric widow has stopped working yet again - this is the third time at a cost of almost £300 each time for a new motor. Im on the verge of getting rid of it as I am terrified I am going to mangle myself at the parking slot or the drive in at McDonalds due to not being able to roll down the window and stupidly having to crawl out the door - hilarious for those watching but not for me ! Any suggestions or solutions would be welcomed :) Read more

My Megane is over 7 yrs so no help from Renault. I found good info here though and fixed it no probs. Saved a bundle www.renaultwindow.co.uk

Thanks for the advice. Both my front windows have gone down. Just had a look at the youtube video but looks a bit of a faff. Did you find it easy to change the part?

First drove these when the saloon was initially lauched, i like them a lot, i like simple straighforward slightly old fashioned if it aint broke dont fix it vehicles, then i like most of the Chevy range too, incl Matiz, the auto of which is a very underrated car to nip about locally in, easy as pie to drive, narrow, nippy and with good all round visibilty.

At £15k for a well equipped Diesel or 1.8 petrol estate they'll be a reasonable buy, i expect that to be the usual figure when they've been out a year or so, course if someone's prepared to shove 20k in a sales bods sweaty mitt then he's hardly likely to tell them to clear off.

Shortly after applying to the DVLA to change my DL address, I received a letter from the DVLA saying that my driving license was revoked in 18/8/2007!

They say this was because I did not surrender my DL for points endorsement. But I DID.!

Because I was a new driver they must have added 3 points on top of the three points for running a red light ( caught in traffic in the middle of the junction). This then triggered a revocation of my DL, under the new drivers act.

The thing is that I have got a copy of my DL with the points endorsed on the paper copy!!! So this is a mistake, but I have been driving for 5 years, and have clocked over 100,000 miles up and down the M6 & M1, I must have triggered hundereds of ANPR cameras so why have I never been pulled?

In 2010 I was stopped for mistakenly running a running a temporary (road works) set of traffic lights on red, the traffic police checked my credentials out via the ANPR system and It I checked out as being fully legal. I was let off with a warning because I was so polite & apologetic.

The DVLA have sent me a letter saying I can recover my DL by making an application for a renewal, now I take this to mean than I can apply for a provisional license and re-take my test for a full DL.

Please can anyone advise me on this dead-full mess I am in? Read more

The ESP/ASR warning light is constantly on when driving but also the rev counter sticks and cuts out intermitantly along with temp gauge, also recently the engine managment warning light stayed on and the car would'nt start. It went to the garage where i brought it from after 2 days they said it was fixed and that it was sticking throtle bodies?, but the ESP light/ intermitant rev counter problem is still there. The car has done 88,000 miles with a full servicre history, has anyone any ideas please? p.s the engine misses every time the rev couter sticks/cuts out. Read more

In 2010 i had a chip repaired by Autoglass but in 2011 the stuff they use to fill the chip had come away and the chip was back so was taken back to Autoglass for a repair agian under there warranty cover.... but now its happen again the stuff has come away and so i went to a Autoglass centre on Saturday and asked if they could look at it and if poss repair it again under the warranty but they said they would never repair a repair !!! and stated to me that if the resine had come away from the first repair then the screen would have to be replaced as they cant repair it again....

so i asked for the screen to be replaced under the warranty but then he said that i looked like a new chip and said that they would not replace unless i paid my £75 excess.. so i rand the head office in bedford and they have it on there system that the repair was repaired again and that it would have to be passed to another dept. so today they have rang me and said that they have spoken to the cambridge branch and as they say it looks like a new chip they will not replace my screen.... but do admit that they should of never done a repair again.... so what a great way to get out of replacing a screen under there warranty cover..... ... Same from me, +1. I've used Autoglass to repair quite a big chip on my Focus' screen - he took 20 mins and it cost me a tenner; it looked pretty good too. I expect these chips and dinks as part of motoring, especially in view of those terrible winters we had and the amount of roadworks on my commute, with stones flying about.

I took out an online policy with this company in the middle of May. I fortunately downloaded the relevant documents almost immediately, since when, that is, for more than six weeks, I have been unable to access the site using my email address and password. Despite many telephone calls to the company the issue remains unresolved and I'm led to believe that there is a general problem with this new product. I can find no reference to this on any forum or blog, so I suspect that they are telling me porkies. Is anyone else having similar problems? Read more

Just got two small chips in my windscreen. They are right in the drivers line of sight, but are only 1 or 2mm in size. So no MOT fail and not affecting my vision. No cracks have appeared.

Do these need repairing urgently?... Read more

Yes, I'm sure the insurers claw back the cost of "free" windscreen repairs by hiking the premium the following year.

I have a problem starting my car occasionally and now think this could be the solenoid which is inbuilt to the starter motor. Is it easy to repair or better to replace... Read more

Peter.N.

If its intermittently not turning over its probably the starter/solonoid that's at fault. You can test it by by connecting a wire from the battery+ to the small terminal on the solonoid, if it still doesn't work you will need a replacement. I don't know if you can get the solonoid seperately but starters are not overly expensive on ebay.
