but surely 40mph limits are unenforceable or at least unenforced?  try  telling mr white van man or ms barely out of her teens citroen saxophoniste  that 20/40mph speed limits have any logical purpose other than to  their curb his/her freedom    Read more

Cynically, I'd say by spreading 40mph to as many rural roads as possible this policy is aimed more at giving electric cars a fighting chance to do a decent daily range than it is to do with road safety. Anyway. much as I'd miss de-restricted roads, at least I have shares in a road sign company...

Having read most of the above, I'm still unsure if I'm driving illegally or not. I bought a pre-reg car and been waiting 90 days to get the log-book. Dealership is now shut (Covid-19) and I still haven't got the log-book. I have notified my insurers.

Also, what happens if the dealer goes into liquidation whilst they are still the registered owner of my car? I paid the deposit on credit card and the balance when I collected on debit card.

You do not say if you checked the oil level after it was serviced and you do not say how many miles you have done since the service. Regards Peter

Some great points to take on board.
In answer to your question, yes as i was raised by a guy who always stripped, cleaned and greased brakes and always had a pot of grease for pipes etc handy this is still something we do today.
I worked in a dealership for over 3 years (and please take it from me there are some fantastic dealerships out there) and we were told in pretty plain English that if we had reason to remove a wheel it had to be paid for,in other words look at the brakes and if they looked ok through the wheel then leave them be,otherwise something had to be sold to justify the time to take the wheel off, suffice to say i hated it there!!!!!

I am sorry when i talked about badge of honour scheme this is a generic term that covers many many codes of conduct schemes.

As an independent i have no other way of "taking on the big boys" if and when required so i saw the likes of The Motor Codes as a kind of big brother, sadly this is not the case.

Thanks for the input so far i really do appreciate your views.

I have just read a report in the Sunday Times about a two seater Japanese sports car which appears not to have a roof. It is described as 'not particularly fast'. Next to this statement there is a panel showing, amongst other things, 'top speed 132mph'.

I always have a chuckle when people start talking about the great braking of some cars. Just remember when your sports car can stop in a traffic jam before you hit the car in front you are still in that artic behind you's braking zone so you are a sitting target for a rear ender.

151k miles.

At 55 to 60 MPH the whole cars shudders, not felt through the steering wheel though. Engine speed or gear (auto shift or manual selection) makes no difference.

Changed front wheels to rear, all wheels balanced (Twice). New tyres all round, 4 wheel tracking (twice), suspension, track rod ends, drive shafts etc, etc. checked by Volvo Garage no faults, also no fault code when put on diagnostic.

Engine management light showed sticking solenoid about six months BEFORE problem, transmission oil change fixed it.

I've just fitted new spark plugs. Nothing has worked. Now been going for 7 months and not getting better or worse. Garage has no idea. Help!
