I signed for a new Kia at the end of April, but unfortunately the verbal delivery date I was given has been delayed by at least 2 months.
I accepted the trade-in value for my Mondeo, but in the meantime it has developed mechanical problems.
Should I inform the main dealer or just hand the Mondeo over when the Kia finally arrives, say nothing and hope they dont notice the black smoke and noisy engine, or are they legally obliged to accept my vehicle as the Mondeo was ok at time of agreement, and the delay is Kia's fault.
Thanks in advance for any advice as i am in a quandary on what to do.

I know it's named after the designer, but come on!
The car itself looks good, but I can't help feeling it would do better with another name.... Read more

Hello,
I am looking at a used car that is still under manufacturers warranty. The second full service was carried out by the independent dealer before putting it for sale.
Will this affect the original warranty ?
The dealer is well reputed with 30+ yrs history in the business. The 3rd party inspection went through fine.

Providing the garage used manufacturers parts, the correct oil, has carried out all the items on the manufacturers schedule and the garage is VAT registered you will be fine. Word of caution, make sure you get an invoice detailing all the work carried out and materials used, a service stamp (unless it is by a franchised dealer) is not normally enough proof, you can buy them off e-bay and garages rarely fall for that.
Please help me !!
I have a peugeot 307 HDI 2Ltr.and had this message anti pollution fault.
I have a knowledge of auto motor mechanism. This car was diagnosed by peugeot and one of the problem they had mentioned is to refill cerum. as it was low and the car had stopped on the way to Oxford.
I purchased the car for very low price from the lady who owned before me.
However I refilled the PAT liquid bought from GSF.but still the RPM won't go above 2000 .I found that Intercooler filter was blocked and no airflow through the intercooler.I replaced the intercooler filter.then the car was fine. didnt have problem untill now.
REcently I changed the cambelt and again this message appeared. RPM is about 2.5 and then cuts off. I was bit worried whether the time was correct.
I took it to a local garage and they checked timing was ok and they cleared some error code. then the car was fine for few days and then again this message cames up every times I start.
I have read on some forums that the counter needs to be resetted after the refill of Cierum. Which I didnt do yet. Also I found that the intercooler hose bit cracked .
I would be much gratefull if anyone can help me .how to reset the counter . and which type of diognose tool can I use for that.
sorry for the long story
Many thanks.

Ok have a golf that's leaking coolant, had cambelt replaced as 20k done since last, and then put in a new water pump and cap
When I say leaking it isn't noticeable I can't see any water and it is a tiny amount, it falls just below the minimum every week or so
Cambelt was replaced 3weeks ago and it flashed up today check coolant for the first time in 3 weeks where it needed a small top up
Obviously this is a sign of gasket but there is nothing to suggest it is this, no milky oil etc
I was advised by the garage that it could be the coolant tank? Is this a possibility?
They also said that with new antifreeze running through if it was the gasket then it would happen a lot quicker...well 3weeks isn't quick IMO
Am at a complete loss, ideally if it isn't the gasket I dont want to be paying to have it done if it doesn't solve my problem
The car isn't prone to gaskets going so am praying it is something else
Any help, tips, advice would be very gratefully received
is there a test that the garage can do to see if it is head gasket?
Thankyou Read more
They can test the coolant for the presence of combustion gases-which is a sign of h/g failure.
You could have a ttiny hole in the radiator, or simply a poor connection on one of the hoses. Often you find that the coolant only escapes when the coolant is pressurised. Look for telltale signs of white powder (residue from antifreeze) around the radiator fins and hoses. That's often evidence of a leak.

Hello. I had the dealer replace the bottle as when i filled it up it leaked. Water leaked by the passenger side bumper. There was a crack in it.
It seems it is happening again. Same leak in same place. I spoke with the dealer. He says I am over-filling yet it is not as you cannot see the water filling up (as you can with my 2004 Honda Crv). He also says if water coming out of windscreen wipers (front and back) there is no problem. My concern is that could this water just be water left in the system? But it doesn't get away from the problem of water leaking when filling up. Any advice here besides getting dealer to "fix" again?! Read more
On my car, was told only to fill to the bottom of the bootle neck, as filling further can cause it to crack if it freezes. does it all leak out or does it stop?
They clearly assumed you don't use a winter additive in your screenwash, which I'm sure you are wise enough to do?...
My friend, without realising it, inadvertantly put petrol into her diesel car. After 10 miles it was not running properly. She called the RAC. The RAC man came to look at the car and said it was a fuel pump problem and that she should drive it to the VW dealer 12 miles away. The following day the dealer called her to say that petrol was in the system and that it will cost £4,800 (including £4,000 for parts) to repair it. Does this amount sound reasonable? Would the additional 12 miles driven to the VW dealer (as recommended by the RAC man) have significantly worsened the damage?
Any comments/help would be very much appreciated. Read more
VW now know the car has been misfueled so won't cover any warranty on the engine, ever.
I would get the fuel drained then stick a couple of gallons of fresh diesel in & see if it runs ok. She managed to drive it to the garage so all may not be lost. How much petrol did she add & was the tank almost empty at the time?
Hi, both brake lights are out, no blown bulbs or fuses, after looking online last night I checked the stop switch this morning but from looking at it it seems to be working fine? The button goes in and out freely and it's connected properly.
I have no idea about cars, need it pretty much everyday this week, no garages open today and don't have time to take it to a garage in the week.
Does anyone have any suggestions on anything else I could try?
Thank you. Read more
Thanks for reply Pete, phoned local parts place, told me to check connector with a bit of wire, brake lights worked, bought a brake switch for a fiver, fitted it myself and they're working! :D
I had some problems about a month or so ago regarding whether or not to replace the engine in my Mazda 6 2.3 petrol sport (2005) as the oil pump had failed and knackered the engine (65K miles). I did decide to replace the engine and found one online for £1500 (reconditioned - Japp Auto Parts, UK). The engine arrived, the old one was taken out by a local garage and the new one put in. The old engine did still run but was a little rattly. Also of note before the oil pump issue was discovered was that there was an engine warning light flagging up a defective cam shaft sensor. From what I can gather online this is not an uncommon fault in Mazda's of a certain age. Unfortunately, the new engine starts ok and runs but only for about 5 seconds then it cuts out. The cam shaft sensor was still showing so my garage ordered a Mazda genuine part and replaced it....... the code is still showing on the diagnostic computer with no other codes. My garage are a bit stumped at the moment. They have replaced various other sensors including the crankshaft sensor (can't remember the others) and still no joy - engine runs for a bit and then cuts out. The engine supplier has been of no help and I am wondering if the engine is just a faulty one. Obviously by now my labor bill is mounting and I have no functional car. The Mazda also had a replacement clutch and water pump at the same time. Does anybody have any suggestions for what might be making the engine cut out - electrical or other? My garage said that the supplied engine looked good and seemed like a genuine like for like replacement. I should also say that the car has gone for a diagnostic at a local Mazda dealer who could tell us nothing more that the cam shaft code and then want £100/hour to look further with no guarantee of finding the problem.
I also wondered if anybody can advise me of how I stand with getting the engine supplier to sort this out; they do fit replacement engines etc. I have a 90 day guarantee so a replacement engine could be an option but I don't see why I should have to pay for another labor charge. Whether I could take the car to the engine supplier and get them to fit a new engine at their cost remain to be seen.
This is a nightmare at the moment so some suggestions would be really appreciated

Hi Have you solved the issue with the starting? I have the same problem and I'm looking for some advise, please Thanks
The original thread was 6 years ago, someone else asked this in March this year, no answers yet, unfortunately.

Fair point, GB - but in reality, surely the dealer is going to 'trade out' the PX car ASAP (unless it's a newish example of the make sold by the dealer, which this clearly isn't).
When I picked up my first Skoda, its Golf predecessor was going out that same morning. It was less than three years old and had no known problems, but my impression was that the buyer would take it as seen.
