Ford Garage took a look. I gave them the above info. They also said it lost efficiency the longer it was run.

Service guy said they did not know how they fixed it! They did a vacuum and re gas and can only assume it shifted the blockage. All seems well with it so far so watch this space.....

Thanks for your help.

Hi I need to remove the rear bumper on my 51 reg jaguar 2.5 saloon so i can fit a tow bar, can anyone tell me how to take the rear bumper off, and where the fixings are ? thanks in advance, Dennis Read more

TBH if you cant remove the bumper fitting a tow bar will not bode well. Bumper is as easy as lego blocks.

The jaguar electrics do not like anything other than the genuine electrical pack from jaguar and it may need configuring in when fitted. ...

The Golf Estate is a mark V, while the hatchback is the newest mark VI. Anyone know why, and when a mark VI Golf Estate will arrive? Read more

I'm not sure if this is an answer, but the Golf estate is really a Jetta estate, made in Mexico alongside the saloon. I had a Mark 5 Golf estate and the body creases along the side of the car were similar to the Jetta's and not there on the Golf.

Golf estates don't sell very well as the Octavia, mechanically identical, is cheaper and roomier.

A friend was given the option of a SAC, which he took. He completed the course (some months ago), and thought no more about it. Two days ago he was pulled over and told that as he had not done the course his licence had been cancelled and his vehicle would be impounded. He explained that he had done the course, but the police said they had no option but to take his vehicle. Later the local magistrates' court, where the case was originally dealt with, confirmed that there were no matters outstanding against him. He is a handyman and his vehicle is a van (properly licensed and MOTd) containing all his tools etc for his work. He was told he should send form D1 to the DVLA and he would get his licence, but this could take three weeks. He has done this. The pound where his van is states that after 14 days any vehicle will be crushed or sold. His insurance has now been cancelled because his licence has been cancelled. No insurance company will offer temporary insurance for a vehicle which has been seized, so he cannot get a friend to take out insurance in order that they can retrieve the vehicle on his behalf. Any ideas anyone?

By the way, on another website I see that Suffolk SPC are notable for not updating the register of people who have completed a SAC. Read more

Thanks dvd and focussed. Sorry not to have replied sooner. He did have a word with a solicitor who, if I understand correctly, said there wasn't much he could do for him now, but once he had gor his van back, then he could help.

I spoke to him about this yesterday. Interestingly he said that in all this mess, the one organisation which has come out of it well is the DVLA. They were really sympathetic and helpful. Nice to know!

The offside headlamp levelling motor is running all the time when the lights are switched on. Whether the ignition is on or off makes no difference.

I have temporarily disconnected the motor while I seek help or inspiration. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be, please? Read more

Cicero

Thanks to all for your swift replies.

When connected, the motor still adjusts the headlamp so it would pass the MOT, I think, but that is not until next year....

According to Tesco Tyres

"It is important to find a tyre with the speed rating you require when replacing your tyres, as choosing a tyre with a lower speed rating than required could invalidate your insurance and increase the chance of product failure"...

Hi

Last year I fitted two run flat Dunlop SP Sports to the front of my 200 520D. The other day I noticed a crack inside the tread in an area of the tyre which is not in contact with the road in anyway. Closer inspection shows it runs all the way around both of the tyres. It's clearly a manufacturing fault from the Dunlop factory and therefore their 5 year warranty should kick in to offer replacements.... Read more

I myself have always avoided buying Dunlop tyres. They have always been known for cracking, doesn't sound like anything has changed.

A friend of mine ordered a brand new car last year. He found out that one of the make of tyre this manufacturer would fit as standard was Dunlop. He made it very clear that to have the car fitted with these tyres would be quite unacceptable. ...
