After 15 miles of driving, engine started to splutter and then completley died (after about 2 secs). After 5 mins it starts again and drives for 2 miles (about 4 to 5 mins) then cuts out and stops again. When running, engine behaves as normal. 115000miles on clock. Owned it for last 16000. Replaced plugs, fuel filter, air, oil 2000 miles ago. Fuel tank 1/3 full. Thought it might be fuel lock so removed the filler cap, problem persists just the same. I have no idea where to start next. Hi, I've just had a replacement engine fitted in my V reg Vaxhall Zafira. Garage who fitted it (but did not supply the engine) have just told me that it has low pressure in one cylinder. I've contacted the company that sold me the engine (with 3 months warranty) they tell me that it's probably a very simple problem and easy to fix (I have my doubts). What are the potential causes of this, am I being had by the seller of the engine or is there some simple cause to fixing this engine rather than taking it out and starting all over again/scrapping the Zafira? Obviously I will be fighting to get the company that sold me then engine to pay for repairs. Thankyou. Read more

Hi,
I've just sold my car through BCA's Sure Sell service. The car was collected by a 3rd party. Before it was picked up I asked BCA whether I needed to fill in any part of the V5 before handing it over - i was told no (I presume because the car may not have sold and been returned to me).... Read more
If you post the details of the car I'll look up the CAP guide price for you.
My saga unfortunately goes on, since having the Citroen C4 2.0 Automatic, within the first day of driving it the service lights flash on and off, various warnings, but the major problem is that it shudders in first gear when there is even the gentlest of slope and then lurches forward like a rocker. It lost power completely on a flat speedbump today.
So I have taken it back to the dealer and asked for a refund, he said he needs to check it's faulty before giving me a refund as he never noticed the problem. So I have left the car with him and he is coming back to me tomorrow. Have I done the right thing not demanding the money there and then? I feel awkward because he wanted to find a honda civic for me, but nothing was coming up in my price range, so I suggested looking at Citroen as I had been happy with my citroen xsara. So he said to me today, this is why I didn't want to buy you a citroen with electronic gearbox! Read more
Well done for resolving it - and the dealer deserves our respect for dealing with the issue in a responsible and professional way.

ah I see, some very clever men work there. If Skoda had done this, we could still have the Estelle.
I've got a Golf Mk5 1.9TDI (2004 - 125K) and for the last 4months I've been having some really odd issues with the coolant/level.
From time to time the coolant level light comes on, and when you look at the coolant, it is around 2-3cm below the min. level. However, when you undo the expansion cap, there's a big whoosh of pressure and the level rises back to normal. And this has gone on and on, with no apparent signs of coolant loss - just the level sucking down when the engine is run, plus loads more pressure than you would expect, in the expansion tank.
If you open the tank cap immediately after the engine has been running for 30mins plus, as you undo the cap air bubbles and coolant start coming out of the overflow pipe section join - surely this should be sealed? Plus the coolant is really foaming inside the tank.
The coolant system has been bled several times to try and remove any air, the heaters are working fine and there's no film of oil/smell of fumes in the expansion tank and no signs of coolant in the oil.
I'm at a loss and would appreciate any suggestions! Read more
Find a garage to test your header tank for combustion fumes. I suspect a weeping head gasket. Regards Peter

Thanks to all those who replied. after inspecting the car more closely i noticed the front crossmember was shot and as MOT was due in 3 weeks decided to scrap the car rather than spend more money on it. Thank you though for your time. Rob
