I've bought a peugeot 205 1.9 gti as a non runner. Before i bought it i knew that the cam belt had snapped a new head fitted. The problem that i have is that there is no oil getting to the head.I've changed the spring and piston in the oil pump but to tell the truth i haven't checked if there is any drive to the pump..if there is drive to the pump what else could be the most likely problem.I've removed the oil pressure sensor from the block and there doesn't seem to be any oil getting up there.Could damage have been done to the bottom end of the block when the cam belt snapped?.Could the head gasket have been fitted wrong?.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the steer in the right direction Jonathan.I don't suppose you have any idea how hard/easy fitting a new chain is and is it a engine out job?..Paul

Probably half the times I cold-start this car I get the following symptoms: With both feet OFF the pedals the revs climb to 2000+ then drop and climb a few times until finally dropping below 500 where the engine stalls. This repeats a few times until it finally starts as normal with initial revs of about 1250 before dropping and holding at about 1000. Warm start is no problem and general driving behaviour (of the car!) is fine. I'm looking for advice as to where the problem might lay or at least what to be careful of forking out for if I take it to a garage. Read more

if the pipes aren't leaking and it makes noises this suggests the pump itself is faulty and needs replacing.

You should be able to get a serviceable pump from a dismantler.

Hi,
I am aware with the brake pressure sensor with the teves mk60, but I have two external brake pressure sensors. So my question is can I just replace the external sensor or there is another internal sensor which breaks? Read more

Some models have a pressure sensor on the brake master cylinder. However the most common failure is the sensor within the teves hydraulic modulator. This requires a replacement unit ,which is around £200.I think you need to get a more accurate diagnostic check to establish which part is at fault.hth

- As soon as I hit the start button, a second later, - JOLT or CLUNK - the car does move. It does vary but not by much.
I did the "reset" last night and it remained, although I did convinve myself gear changes were smoother.
In Sport, I do get a jolt on the transit through in some of the gears, some of the time.

What am i looking at here ? The Norm or a problem.. Only got it last week! <*** title="Sad" src="http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Read more

Hi,

BMW have had the car and diagnosed and rectified the following but makes no sense to me ? Anyone hazard a guess ??

As noted above, immeadiately after start I get a thump/clunk/knock (not all 3!) from the gearbox area. It is seriously like soeone under the car hitting the underside with a mallet.
More often there when cold but warm as well.

This is exactly what I was told was the problem : " We found a gearbox linkage out of adjustment cable under the centre console" Its not a typo, that's how it was described incase the grammer buffs spot the error!.. What the hel* does that mean, and how would that be the cause.

* Note its not a Cable 'slap' noise, it's a thump like something engaging.. so what was o/o/adjustment ? Any Auto Box experts have an idea? - PLEASE ?

Still dont have car back, some paint work being done, but "apparently" its fixed.. ANY light appreciated.

Amazing how a forum exudes a particular political colour amongst it's posters which reveals the true nature of their leanings and thoughts. They always raise issues around and against left of centre support, anti union, anti local government, public pensions and the like. Or when Tory criticism of Labour dominates the news, especially in the dying days of the last Labour government. Well, it is funny that no mention of the landslide Labour gains, and the coalition losses can't russle up any comment whatsoever. I would, but I would be a lone soul who would quickly be rounded on by the dyed in the wool right wingers that control that particular forum. For the new ones on here, I apologise as you no not what I'm on about, but the cross posters will. Well done the reds. Is this an omen for Liverpool to beat Chelsea today? ;-)) Read more

Enough - I agree.

If anyone wants a political discussion, they can start another thread - but there are probably more appropriate forums to do it on than this.

This isn't a name and shame, it's just a name, as I am only repeating what is stated very boldly in a very big notice in Evans Halshaw up and down the land. They tell you flatly that their "approved used cars come with three months complimentary guarantee."

pd

I agree with PD that the implied terms, stated in the SOGA, of a sale contract, aren't a warranty in the way consumers interpret that word - but that doesn't make the legislation useless. The implied term 'satisfactory quality' (a 1990s amendment to the original, more memorable, 'merchantable quality'), is the one that's most argued about.

Every case is different and all that the law can do is uphold that which is reasonable. The implication of 'reasonable' for used goods is that their condition is what a reasonable person might expect given the age of the goods and the use to which they've been put....

Hi all. This is probably a bit of a pointless rant as I cannot name and shame and it's too late to do anything about it.

I currently own a 2003 Astra G 1.8 petrol. Purchased from a family member in 2010. They'd owned it since 07/08, full Vauxhall service history. It was only on 60 some odd K when I purchased i,t and SH reveals just one cambelt change in it's life.... Read more
