Yes all manufacturers cut corners, I agree.

Lets take a golf for example. In 5 years the prices have stayed pretty much the same. ...

I ran over a concrete post thrown from a motorway bridge by local teenage pond-life last night. Phoned the police and they just said lucky it didn't land on the car. Thanks Mr Plod.

Anyway... amazingly, only damage is to lower part of front bumper. This appears to be a kind of 'spoiler' or 'skirt'. Can this be replaced without having to get a whole new bumper? If so, how easy is it to replace? Thanks. Read more

MrEckerslikefromRamsbottom

Try an e-Bay search. There are pictures of everything available and so you'll see if anyone is selling the seperate sections of the bumper. Sometimes, the new items in manufacturers' packaging from e-Bay shops are cheaper than the second-hand stuff.

Remove the glovebox and the resistor pack is located in the fan blower housing. While you are there,it would be a good idea to replace the cabin/pollen filter.hth

sometime in the next few days, I shall be collecting and paying for a new Teutonic motor from a broker , on the other side of the country.

He will have paid for it by then from the main dealer, and I will pay him in full - no finance involved - not far off £40 k and drive away after calling the insurers whose quote I have.... Read more

Last week while driving to work on the main road another driver shot out of a side road without warning when I was less than three car lengths away. I managed to avoid T-boning her car but her driver headlight side hit the passenger headlight side of mine and shunted me into oncoming traffic and a third vehicle. She was rushing to a personal family tragedy and not in a fit state of mind and admitted as much. This is not really the issue, it's being dealt with although I really don't like all these ambulance chasing lawyers. My Skoda was written off.

I had a garage courtesy car. This was picked up on Saturday morning and I was asked to go to a local hire company to pick up a car. At the time they only had a Vauxhall Meriva available. I took it and drove three miles home and parked it outside my house. Ten minutes later I left the car there and went off in the car of my old driving instructor just to build up my confidence as I am now really worried every time someone is waiting at a junction and afraid they will just shoot out. (I'm not a kid but only have been driving in the UK a year having worked abroad for most of my life). ... Read more

Hi,
If you write to the dvla at Swansea with the reg number of the car that collided with your hire car, explaining why you need the information ,they will supply the name of the cars registered keeper.i believe they charge £2.50 for the information .
The registered keeper may not have been driving the car ,but you could provide the details ,and make a complaint to your local police .

Hi, we have sold the 2nd car (Citroen Berlingo), have test driven a fiat doblo, seat altea, skoda roomster and fiat qubo. Our car of preference is the Qubo for its practically yet smaller dimensions than the Doblo for getting around central Birmingham. Anyone got an opinion on them before I do the deal? They are offering a 1.4 petrol active for £10,100 or 1.3 diesel my life for £11,100. Dont do the miles to justify the diesel. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome. Read more

Thanks for the replys, the pre-reg has gone. I agree with the sentiments about Fiat, but being based on a commercial vehicle, it gives me more confidence than buying a standard Fiat car. The only problem I now have is finding a good Fiat dealer for any after sales support. The Fiorino/Nemo/Bipper do get a decent write up from the commerical sector.
