new and used cars in doha qata

That would be the right choice. If someone wants to own a used car then why we should we buy any other car, instead of that we have to buy Toyota used car with warranty period. Read more

just to update i have spoken to a carb specialist and the zenith its running is a alternative to the solex and on closer inspection the carb does look quite new so i have removed the k&n type filter and managed to connect the original air box the problem i have now is ive managed to get the engine to idle but it is very lumpy and also when the engine gets upto tempreture it starts to smoke. the smoke is whiteish but doesnt seem like steam im going to do a compression test on the cylinders to see what this shows if it shows good compression i will replace plugs leads dizzy cap ect if any body has any ideas in the mean time i would like to hear them

many thanx...

Hi

I have a car secured on a bill of sale rather than a hire purchase agreement. I want to either settle the finance OR if i can, voluntary terminate the agreement. ... Read more

Hi bromptonaught ,Thankyou for the link I now understand .The popular name is a log book loan ,rather than a bill of sale .

This type of agreement became popular after my time as a finance manager .

Having read the report you would have to say that the sooner they are banned the better .

The BOS agreement is an outdated peice of Victorian legislation that should have been banned many years ago .It was never intended to be used by people with a poor credit history .The report quotes a loan of £750 ,with a total repayable of £3000 over 6 months ! .You would have to wonder whether any consumer has ever tried to have the loan set aside under the unfair contracts act .

Other than the problem they create for consumers they can also be a problem for the car trade , in that the log book lenders tend not to register their interest with the Experian HPI system .

It follows that a car dealer can buy a car from the registered owner ,do the usual HPI checks ,which show up no financial interest ,pay for the car ,then loose the car ,when the BOS lender gets a court order to recover the car .

hello i am new to this site with a problem, i work in a back street garage and we have a mondeo which the cam shaft snapped, we sent it of to a diesel specilist to fix the car they put a new head etc on the car we got it back i notice it is filthy under the engine bay any way i jet wash it down, after the weekend the car was AA'd back not running the guy that repaired it came alone and re programed the injectors ( which were re placed with head ) and ran fine..... for 10 mins then was all lumpy etc, the diesel expert said it needs to be driven to learn, we did and still wouldnt behave, so the expert takes away, then sends it of to another company who stripped the injectors out and say it has water ingress in them and will need new injectors as well as inpection for the whole fuel system to see if there is any other water in system, and they have said that the water could have got there from me jet washing the engine as it would get in the top of the injectors??? ( sounds like a load of cr*p to me) can anyone help shed a light on how this could have happend? i could loose my job over this so am little fustrated, also it might be worth mentioning it had a new diesel pump and injectors a year ago before this situation, and the cam shaft snapped in the wonderfull freezing weather we had this winter, if anyone can help i would be so greatfull Read more

Very nice of the chancelor not to raise the cost of fuel with immidiate effect in his budget but I did notice that my local Esso garage had put price up by 2p per ltr overnight.Mmmm. Read more

It's perfectly workable. Pay the tax or we ground your planes. Very simple. Oil companies pay the fuel duty in a lump sum when they get the fuel in, write a cheque to the Treasury and sell us the fuel. Similar principle.

Hi, Our mx5 has recently developed a rattling noise which is very quiet on starting the engine but gets load when the engine is under load, 3500 revs upwards.
I too kit to a garage today and they advised me that the crank had gone and that this was a common fault on this engine (although a search of the net for this particular problem has been rather fruitless, so I'm not sure if it is a common fault or not).
They say that a new engine is required and this would be around £2000. They also said another option would be to convert the car and fit a 1.8L engine instead (they said these engines are more reliable).

What is your advice regarding the symptoms, does the advice I've been given sound fair or should I get a second / third opinion? Many thanks for any help you can give, Regards, Carl Read more

Hard to tell without hearing it, but a diesel-sounding knock when the engine is pulling and under load is a symptom of a dead crankshaft bearing.

Try this -- in 3rd gear at about 2,500rpm, accelerate hard for a couple of seconds and then lift sharply right off the throttle. Does the rattle / knock get louder as you lift off? If so, it's likely that either a big-end or little-end bearing has failed....

My Peugeot Boxer van was vibrating while running, a main dealer ran diagnostics, could not rectify the problem, suggested a compresion test & results showed low compression and advised a replacement engine. I had an indipendent mechanic strip the head and no fault was found (main dealer was notified of this, but had no interest in checking the vehicle while stripped down ,so therefore there was no other option than to put back together and van was still running the same. The mechanic noticed that the Dual Mass Flywheel was breaking up and suggested that this was the cause of the problem, I had the dual mass flywheel replaced and the judder was rectified. The main dealer was informed of this and they dismissed this saying there is no way the break up of the Dual Mass Flywheel would cause the running problem. I have had another compresion test done and compression is good in all cylinders. the main dealer is still saying that the replacement of the DMF would not rectify the running problem, and certainly not rectify the compression. My argument against the main dealer is that the new DMF has sorted out running problem but obviously the new DMF wil not rectify compression, I believe an error was made in the initial compression test which led me to incur unessesary costs in stripping the head down. Could anyone please give me advice or technical information comfirming the break up of the DMF would cause vibration in the van while driving as the main dealer arnt prepared to offer any recompence at present, I have all documentation of correspondance, the old DMF and old cylinder head gasket (replaced when cyliner head was taken off) for ibspection if required Read more

What's your main dealer on? As Peter N says, a flywheel is there to stop vibration - as is the crankshaft harmonic vibration damper pulley at the other end of the engine! When the springs in the DMF start to break up (or the rubber in the damper pulley) then the thing's going to go out of balance and vibrate. Like loosing a balance weight off a wheel.

Could some one please help by providing a diagram link or explaination of the colour codes for the black radio plug with the power etc. I am baffled as there seems to be three permanent lives but when plugged straight in there is no memory. I enquired about a after marked loom but I am told my radio should just plug straight in. For now I have taken a wire from the central locking fuse ( just like from the battery) and the radio is permanently on so must be turned off to not drain the battery. Read more

Herr Minger

Thanks for the reply but what is the 'can network' Also what you suggest is a bit of a hassle for me, seems a bit complex. I have fitted radios in every car I've had without too much hassle until now. it would help if I knew what wires were what. here is a discription of them

CraigPD130 is spot on.

These engines were notorious for jacking up the lifters when shunted around cold, especially if the wrong gtrade of oil is used....
