Hi all
Due to having a ruptured disc and sciatica in my left leg I need an auto for under £4000
I have just sold my trusty landcruiser as it was too thirsty and having tried a few manuals I have realised its just too painful to push the clutch in.
Must be comfortable, economical and have a good safety rating.
Nothing too small - must be family sized
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks

In August 2009, I spent exactly that on a 2002 December BMW 530i Sport touring Auto.
Apart from 3 oil + filter changes (each under £50 from National tyres), and a air filters (Eurocar parts, £20 or so a go), two rear tyres my expenses have been limited fuel....
The service light on the dash has started blinking "Sevice immediately" after several weeks of reminders. The warning comes on when I start the car. It would be the 12000km minor service (oil, filter etc). Is this a warning that needs to be heeded immediately - as in do I need to get it to a garage today or tomorrow - or can the service wait for a couple of weeks when I have a bit more time ? I do a 10km commute every day to/from work along a dual carriageway. The car is the 1.6 TDI (diesel), June 2009.
Thanks in advance! Read more
You assume the car is still under warranty because of its age, but not if it has done more than 60K miles.
If you have the model with the Multi-function computer you can interrogate the service interval mileage count down....
Good morning, I own a Ford Focus 1.8lt diesel Mk1 estate and I am going to install a split relay system that I have bought so that I can charge my leisure battey.
I need help on finding the starter motor so that I can connect my negative wire to it, (instructions say "connect to small wire on starter motor, this is a earth when not cranking).
Also I need to find "Ignition Positive (ON)"
and where is a good earth for my leasure battery (installed at the back of my estate car?).
Thankyou, regards Joe

What type of split charge relay have you bought? It doesn't sound very special to me.From the instructions ,it appears to be no more than a 4 pin regular relay.hth

This wire needs to be live with ignition on.Possible connection points are in the engine bay fuse box,but you will need a test light to verify the power with key on.hth
Those who read this column regularly will know I'm trying to find a car to accomodate 3 children in the back without paying the earth, and without saying goodbye to the pleasure of driving and economy. I've never owned a Hyundai, but I like the look of the ix35, the reviews and the fact I can get 3 kids in the back. I'd buy one now, but for the drive, which reminds me of acquaplaning in a 205. Any views? Read more
That's a modern Hyundai trait - the OH's i30 is very light to drive, and initally I feel like I'm driving on ballbearings. After an hour it's fine. Then I get back in to my Mondeo (2005, 80k) and it feels like driving a tank - heavy pedals, slow steering. Both handle pretty well, it's just adjusting to the different driving characteristics.
I travel to France quite often so use stick-on headlamp beam converters.
I have not found any that really work - the last one I tried was from Halfords - a lot cheaper than from BMW. The instructions for fitting however were very vague.... Read more

Can you help me i have a 335cd sport coupe 2007 i have had this car from new after 9000 miles i noticed the front offside outer edge of tyre wearing also the steering was a bit skittish. i went to my dealer i was informed the alignment was out. After the car felt a lot better i changed both front tyres. About 10000 later i noticed the same problem I took my car to a tracking specialist where i was informed my camber was out on the offside front i asked for a print out and took this to my dealer they said this was the wrong data for my car another wheel alignment was carried out. i was informed i had a sized track rod end this was replaced. i then had new front tyres fitted i still have the same problem wear on offside front outer edge all my other tyres have worn evenly over the life of the car. My last visit to the dealer they suggested it was my driving style and maybe i should try a different brand of tyres
Read moreIf its only affecting one wheel it will be a camber angle error on that wheel, to much much tow in will wear the outside edges but of both tyres. You can check if the camber is the same on both wheels by standing the car on a perfectly level surface and checking the deviation from vertical of each wheel with a spirit level, if the angles are both the same the wear should be similar on both sides although that doesn't necessaraly indicat that they are correct. The nearside tyres normally wear faster than the offside.

thanks for that, will get my wheels off and have a look. if that is the cause were dose the pump noise come from? it wasnt the sensor i changed as i previously said it was the ring that was cracked
