The pump would be protected by the fuel filter. Has it been changed and how do you know there is a residue in the fuel. Have you contacted the garage that fuelled the car....
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has experience of a vehicle which has previously been written off as cat C, then a subsequent accident has again caused it to become a Cat C write off. This has happened to my car, I would like to buy it back off my insurers for repair.... Read more

Reading the cx-5 brochure describes the i-stop system.

Have you checked the pipes to and from the turbo? If you cant find anything put your hand over the air intake to the filter, it should stop the engine, if it doesn't you have a leak somewhere.
Hi,
A warning light is permanently on on my dashboard. It's in yellow and it's a little picture of a car with a spanner. It is on due to an ECU fault and all the car's systems work fine.... Read more
Try googling (other web search engines may be available) new MOT requirements or something similar.
It would appear you're in the clear, however if it's indicating an engine management problem your emissions may be outside limits.
I have an unresolved electrical problem with my '53 Mondeo TDCi 130 Estate 120k miles. After about 1 hrs night driving the Sony CD panel starts to flickering slightly. With time this increases in intensity over the next 20mins or so until they are almost flashing on-off. (very distracting when night driving) I have done some investigating (fiddling!) and found if I use main beam or put heated front or rear screen on it reduces and almost stops the flickering. If I put on all three then it stops. If I turn stuff off then it gets worse and I think it then also shows up slightly in the dash illumination but very slightly. Dash lights dimmer position does not seem to affect the flashing - not sure as it just makes the problem more or less obvious. Seems like an electrical load problem? This has been happening since I bought the car about 3 1/2 years ago and still does it after having replaced the alternator after it failed recently but, was hoping, it has not change the flickering problem. Is there a regulator for the radio/Sony and or dash illuminations? Usual solution is to turn it off. Help! Read more
Alternator failure on most Fords is a fairly common issue. However many of the aftermarket recon units do not perform to scratch. Is yours a genuine Ford replacement unit ?There is no voltage regulator in the dash pod or radio circuit, but you can expect voltages up to 16 volts in the electrical system as this has smart charge control..Remember also that is is important to have a calcium battery fitted.hth
Hello all. I recently received a "flyer" from the DOT suggesting ways to save fuel.
Apart from the usual hints, tyre press etc, it said that coasting up to an obvious stop situation, used more fuel than removing your right clog off the pedal and staying in gear!! Now, forgetting the safety aspect, if there is one, coasting up to a stop, be it a red light, junction, crossing atc, my revs obviously drop to tick-over ie app. 900rpm... Read more

Do Jaguars still have a problem of many not lasting longer than 10yrs/100,000m without having shedloads of money spent on them? [I don't suppose the 'car-with-the-job-change-after-4yrs' brigade are too bothered....]....
