My car is supposed to have a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres. The gauge shows" full"," half full", "quarter full" and the red section. I believe the gauge is calibrated incorrectly because it always takes quite a lot less to brim the tank than the gauge would suggest. For example, when it was showing a quarter full, eleven litres on the gauge, I could only get twenty seven litres in to brim the tank so there must have been eighteen litres left. This is a nuisance when I am on a journey as it means I refuel more often than I need to. I always refuel when the gauge goes into the red but I actually have a lot of safe miles left still. The reserve must actually hold a lot of fuel, eleven litres which is a big percentage on a 45 litre tank. Has anyone else experienced this with a 2007 Corsa or is it peculiar to mine? I have never had this problem with any other car I have owned. Thanks in advance. Read more

SWMBO and daughter and my mother all own 2007 Corsas and fuel gauges stick from time to time after fill-ups. Vauxhall electronics I'm afraid (central locking systems, dash instruments, courtesy lights, 02 sensors all take on a life of their own but th e women in my life love their Corsas).

I found the following post on another website:

I am currently running a Peugeot Partner 1.9D (DW8 engine) for work, on 100% diesel, it has never seen anything other than pump diesel....

However, it has developed a fault whereby it will ALWAYS idle at around 1100rpm, regardless of running temperature. It used to run at 1100rpm on cold start and then drop to 900rpm at idle when warmed up, but this no longer happens. Since this fault has occured, it is also a lot slower than the other vans in the fleet which are identical, in as much as that it is about 5mph slower top speed, will not rev so freely, or over 4000rpm without a real struggle.

I am guessing this is all because it is now constantly always running rich due to being stuck on a cold start setting...

Any ideas on which components would cause this problem on the DW8, as I'm not that familiar with the engine setup on this...

The ECU and its sensors may be responsible.....Take it to a main dealer for ECU diagnostic check, latest software update may fix this issue.

Oh dear, I thought my 1.3 Astra was running so well and then the previously described engine vibration started at around 65k miles. The shaking occurs around 1800 to 2000 RPM (see http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=85208 )

A number of owners described the problem in the earlier post but no one appeared able to come up with an answer.... Read more

Sorry - it's been some time since I checked this thread and I may be too late.

A month ago, the 1.3 engine wasn't running too well - the vibration was beginning to come back, and starting was rather hesitant. Then, well into a 100 mile drive, the engine warning light came on (the orange car with a spanner across it). I googled the problem, found a reference to 'the pedal test' for finding fault codes www.all-carsonline.co.uk/forums/?showtopic=4274...

I live up a road where there is houses up until a certain point only up on side of the road, about 6 houses down there is now houses opposite, but a person living at the house who's right on the end of the opposite side of the road, has around 6 cars, their drive can only occupy 2 cars. The thing that has really annoyed me lately, is that their cars that they can't fit onto the drive they park opposite the drive of my house, so that it is obstructing me from getting out of my drive. They have a long stretch from their house, and there is about 4 houses between mine and their house, and they purposely park opposite the drive, or just infront of the house, so i still, even then struggle to get out of my drive.

Can anything be done about this? Surely this can't be allowed? Read more

Now here's a thing.

Rather nasty tapping noise on cold start (colder = worse) which goes away once warm. This started just after the last service, which included replacement of belts (ancilliary drive belt and cam belt plus pulleys and water pump). Now I thought I'd got to the bottom of this, as a good squirt of engine oil on the business end of the alternator makes it go away temporarily. So, alternator bearing giving up the ghost as a result of the less "stretchy" new belt as a nailed-on cause I thought.... Read more

Can we drop the upper case font please.

The pump would be protected by the fuel filter. Has it been changed and how do you know there is a residue in the fuel. Have you contacted the garage that fuelled the car....
