March 2012
I received a NIP today stating that I was speeding on the 19/03/2012 at 03:28. I have viewed the photograph online and the camera states 20/03/2012 at 03:28. I have no defence on the 20th as I was on the road at the time stated and in the area but on the 19th I was in bed and the car parked miles away from the offence. Does the fact that the date on the NIP is incorrect enough to avoid prosecution? Read more
Hi. I have a nissan micra k11 cabrio. When my fuel level falls to 1/4 of a tank, the engine cuts on right turns. The car will start immediately or bump start once i straighten out and continue until i do another right turn or take a right bend. If i leave the car off for an hour or so, it starts and drives ok including right turns but only for a couple of minutes then it starts cutting out again. I know there is at least 5 litres in the tank but it seems to be coming through very slowly when low. If i fill it up at this point, it will take 27 litres maximum and will drive fine until it falls to 1/4. help! Read more
Remove the fuel pump from the tank and replace the two rubber supply pipes with same diameter&length new pieces.Your local car accessories shop should be able to slip you a length on the cheap.
The overhead LED brake light on the rear tailgate keeps falling off on one side.
The LED bar is held into position by a brass plate which locates onto a rubber square fixed to the window glass. A series of dimples on the rubber plate lock into corresponding holes in the brass plate. Maybe because the rubber is getting old, the joint with the brass plate keeps failing.... Read more

No, he was a sensible looking chap in his partner's Saab - not some b*****ole with a cap on backwards in a Corsa. He fully believed he was entitled to drive a third party's vehicle, however the Saab's insurance had lapsed; had it been in place he would have been fully legal. It was a sickener for him, and even the gentlemen in blue seemed quite sympathetic towards him; not to the extent they rescinded his ticket, of course.
Hi there,
I really would appreciate help with this. I own a VW POLO from 2001. Its automatic and Left Hand Drive. Only has 35K miles on the clock. ... Read more
If it is a spring, thus the clunk on full lock, it could breaker again and even rip the side wall of the tyre. Best get this checked it it need fixing. Regards Peter
The front window wipers do not return to the base of the windscreen after making a wipe, instead they will stop where ever they please once the stalk is moved. Does anybody know how can I fix this problem?
Thanks Read more
just for info... for anyone passing...
the two screws holding the plastic fascia around the steering column are torx screws no T10.
the plastic case of the stalk istelf , opens by gently pushing the 5 plastic wedges in ... 2 either side , and a bigger one on the font.

My wipers were freezing where ever they were on the screen if the washer water was ativated (ie the stalk pulled back when wiping)
In my case, the contact had a chunk missing..
i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/liammcl_2006/Wipe...g
so I gently sanded it down and swapped the contacts around (my thinking is that the back wiper won't get as much use)

I cleaned the other part too, where the pics above make contact with.
Just this second put it back in , and all is working fine.... so far ;)
Cheers

Hi all,
I've got £4000 to spend and looking for a family soft offroader 4x4. Ideal for family needs and with covering 10k miles a year petrol or diesel is not important.... Read more
I have had a hilux surf, x-trail and landcruiser Colorado
The x-trail is not a great car - dear to repair and the petrol is very juicy. They are more like a big estate to be honest
The surf is a great car but are imports so insurance is twice the price. Also they are rear wheek drive and have a lot of power so mine wandered off sideways several times in the wet, even at low speeds
The landcruiser is a superb car - just sold my old P reg after 3 years - it had done 169k and still drove really well. Never gave me a days trouble. Unfortunately they are also guzzlers - hence why I had to sell mine
I have heard the Rav4 is very good but try to go for a low mileage petrol if you can't get a diesel.
Definitely avoid freelanders at all costs lol
Grand vitaras seem to have a few issues too so do your research
Happy hunting!
:-)
What exactly is the point of the modern trend for great big wheels surrounded by a tiny fringe of rubber? Unless one can guarentee driving on billiard-table smooth tarmac all the time (a laughable ambition in the UK), all they do is knock your teeth out, and get damaged very easily.

Define "reasonable".
In this case it wuld appear to mean; "to fit the wheelarch of something designed for smaller wheels". That's not a good reason, just the wrong wheel for the car.
I ordered the above car on Jan. 14th 2012. The garage has been very slow in giving me any timescale for delivery. Is there any difficulty or delay in these cars coming to Spain. They say that automatics are slow on the production line. Can anyone offer info. on this matter. I'm really concerned because I've already given them my car as part exchange.(silly me) Read more
That's no worse than I used to average in my diesel B-class - one of several reasons why it was unloved, mainly relating to the diesel engine. Your petrol B-class sounds as if it' been a good buy.
This morning went to fuel up on the way to taking swmbo to work and all the pumps covered except for the v-power diesel, luckily the attendant recognised swmbo is a doctor and allowed us to fill up as there is no public transport here in west wales before 8 in the morning and after 6pm, Read more
Some news reports have suggested some garages are rationing. I remember during a previous strike the lateral thinker Edward de Bono suggested people be allowed to fill up as much as they wanted as long as it was over a minimum amount of fuel - say 25 litres. That way people only queued when they had capacity in their tank and not repeatedly for small amounts. Good idea but hard to enforce I guess.

Great result. At least they recognised they had little chance of winning so let it go. Pursue a case they can win instead. That is your 'Get out of Jail' card used up for this year. Cheers Concrete
