Hi I have a focus zetec collection W plate, and there is a clunking noise when the car is just ticking over and the same when you start off in first gear, once you move up to second the sound disappears.
Does anyone have any experiance of this and what it may be? Read more

I need some insurance advice, please. My girlfriend and I were invovled in an accident earlier this year when we were towing our caravan. Essentially, we were approaching a small roundabout and wanted to turn right. As we did so, a car came up in the left lane and, as we had swung out to complete the maneouvre we clipped his front wing. The third party insists that we are at fault but we have denied liability on the grounds that he should have left the appropriate space for us to complete the maneouvre (which we had signalled our intention to do). Anyway, the third party has insisted that unless we admit liability they will go to court. We have never been in this situation before and would appreciate advice as to what we could expect to happen if we go to court and lose? Our car insurance policy provides us with legal costs and they have said that their legal team will look at the case and make a judgement on whether we can expect to win or lose. If their judgement is negative can we still at this point decide to cut our losses and admit liability (we just don't want the hassle) even though we firmly believe that we are not liable.

My 2001 2.2 hdi C5 is seriously down on power and frequently (every other journey) brings up the anti-pollution message and kills what little power it has left, have been advised by a French car specialist to change the map and the maf sensor, which I shall do when funds allow, my main query is does anybody know where the anti pollution ecu lives? When the car was plugged in they couldn't access the AP ecu to do a forced regeneration or reset the eolys level as the ecu has died. I now need to find the ecu to get the part number off but have no idea where to start looking! ... Read more

Alongside the other problems im having with my passat, my mechanic just noticerd today that when he put the car on the lift, started it from cold the cat down to the exhaust manifold were actually red in colour and burning hot, this lasts for about 10 mins then cools back down.... Read more

The best thing I ever saw in this context was an AA van towing another AA van.
I saw the supersize version of that once. An HGV recovery truck towing another HGV recovery truck. I still wonder whether the second one had broken down, or whether they had a job on that required two and were saving fuel by only running one of them out to it.
Hi. Was having a draining battery problem. After pulling fuses and testing i found it to be the ignition switch circuit. Pulled the fuse and no more drain. Is this just a replacement ignition switch or are there other things on this circuit that might also be faulty?

Hi everyone, i recently bought a toledo tdi from 03( few weeks ago to be precise :( ). the car goes into limp mode at high revs... i was told by a garage that it was the turbo sticking, the guy performed some kind of cleaning with some product, putting it thru the intercooler, dont even know if this is possible!!? charged 250£ .. car still goes into limp mode at high revs and now i started to hear a noise coming from the turbo, sounds kind of like metal with metal, i cant actually hear it very loud i assume its just starting. .. i know its not the maf ( tried this) ... There is also another problem, the Mil , (check engine light) doesnt come on at all, not even when i turn the key to the on position doesnt light up AT ALL, checked the fuses, checked the "bulbs behind the dash all seems fine.... is it possible that this ppl have placed some kind of eliminator to trick me? :( please help i am a lady and dont understand alot about this things, im about to give up and lose 2k.. any help will be greatly apreciated.. ty Read more

No it doesn't stop when I push the clutch down only when I go into second gear, and no noise when in reverse.
