HJ's answer in last weeks (15th April) Telegraph concerns me. I'd post a link but this site won't let me.
Upshot is HJ's fuzzy answer implies that vehicles on the motorway should give way and makes no mention of rule 259 requirement for vehicles coming along the slip road to "check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow".... Read more
It looks like Haynes don't currently publish a manual for the 2008-onwards Fiesta. I'd like to start preparing for doing my own maintenance when mine goes out of warranty.
Any ideas on when Haynes might publish one?... Read more
Contact Haynes by e-mail or phone, they will be able to tell you!

So Saab have stopped production due to suppliers not being paid, and in great similarity to MG/Rover have exhausted their cash reserves, Also, the Chinese are circling the not yet dead corpse, but will wait for them to go under and then ship it all off to Bejing! If the mighty GM couldn't save it, then a small niche car company certainly won't be able to. The French have too much national pride to allow their industry to go under for the moment, but the prices of the current Citroen Peugot Renault ranges are hurting them, especially if compared to the realistic korean pricing. After that all the european mass producers will fall one by one!
Sad really, because the new 9-5 looks quite stylish. Read more
If they have so much technology at hand why do they produce such terrible cars just look at their mid size range (mondeo size) or look at their large cars the Opirius for one what dated rubbish they are.I will admit they have a good advertising model something most people who buy will regret in the future.Defenders of these cars have obviously never driven a proper car in their lives.
You're not comparing like with like, the Hyundai Sonata is a standard car designed to compete with the likes of the Camry or US Accord (different to our own), which is does very well. In europe the only mid size cars we have are premium, thats why Ford had to up the quality of the mondeo does fit into thats class. Toyota stopped selling the Camry some years ago, Hyundai have recently stopped selling the Sonata. The new i40 will be for the premium class and more expensive than the out going models due to that.
Hi
I am looking for a car that must have an engine no greater than 1.5. A medium size car, for going on distance trips with passengers in the front and back. But not huge, because I like to be able to actually park it sometimes. I am a man in my 20's and it should not have a "grandma" style to it. ... Read more
Given your budget you may find the following of interest:
"That's bad enough, but it's worse for those buying third party, fire and theft (TPFT) cover because these policies rose by an average 60 per cent over the same 12-month period, from £980.84 to £1,565.61. Bizarrely, countless TPFT motorists (those who fall into what AA Insurance describes as "shoparound" customers) saw their premiums rocket by 82 per cent from £845.04 to £1,538.62 per annum."

The electric mpg read out on my dash board has suddenly gone odd it displays radom numbers - it seems to go up with a series of random numbers ( say 32.6 40.9 74.0 95.0 115 for example) then it displays --- then goes down the way in random numbers again. Any ideas? Read more
Are you sure you have not caught the button on the end of the stalk and you are now displaying instantaneous mpg rather than average mpg. Regards Peter

Right folks, need the collective forum brain on this one!
Bought a car 2 weeks ago, and someone in their wisdom decided to apply either intentionally or not, wax or polish to the windscreen! (before my purchase) - looks maybe like an accidental runoff ?
Anyway, every time the wipers wipe I see a "scum" on the windscreen, but after the wipe the screen is clear. my problem is that whenever the wipers are on constantly this "scum" is there, and it would worry me if it was raining at night and my vision would be affected.
I have tried household glass cleaner, water and vinegar, cleaning with newspapers. Bought some foamy type stuff "that will clear anything" according to the chap in the motor factors. (have bad news for you buddy !). Got some stuff off the chaps at Autoglass, have even tried the old trick of the potato cut in half smeared over the screen, all to no avail !!!
Apparently nail varnish remover (or something with Acetone) may lift it. Unfortuneately the only nail varnish remover in our house is acetone-free!!! aargh!!! have to hunt some out.
Does anyone else have any tips worth considering ? Before I accidentally hit the screen causing that nice young chap from Autoglass to replace it!!!
(Its not the wiper blades themselves either - have changed those)
Its a real pet hate of mine having a screen which isnt clear! Read more

There are some nasty slip roads around. One close to me does not allow a view of the traffic on the motorway until you are virtually at the end of the slip. You have two choices, you either approach the end of the slip with the intention of stopping. Trouble is, if you see the road is clear, you have to join the motorway at less that ideal speed. This is when you risk getting taken out by an HGV who was just out of sight when you joined. The other option is you aim to hit motorway speed at the end of the slip, only to find your way blocked. You therefore have to jam on the brakes to stop, after which you have to try and join from a standstill which is a very uncomfortable experience on a busy motorway.
The system used in some other countries gets round this problem by dropping to two lanes past the junction with the inside lane taking you off and on before and after the junction. (I know there are some examples in the UK). There are obviously drawbacks as a lot of traffic would be moving across to the middle and outside lanes before each exit. ...
