Can someone help me, the anti-polution msg has just come up on my car, I had run low on fuel, could this be the problem? should I give it a blast down the road? I am going to trade it in today and would like the light to disappear even for a short while

Can anyone help me with the location of the oil filter on this car, I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. I understand it is in a plastic casing, but cannot find it anywhere at the font of the engine. Read more

ford allow for complete removal, we used to drop subframe one end only and just diconnect rack from colomb and pull the box back far enough to gain access to the clucth. If the bell housing was full of crud we used to wash it out in situ.

MG Mastro's 2.0 EFi's we used to do clucthes like we did with the FWD Escorts, just swing the box down with shafts etc still all conected. Just used to buzz the bell housing bolts and swing. So with practice you can do many in very short time. Its just learning the knack.

I'm changing my Volvo V70 which is high mileage and getting very expensive to keep going.

I'm going to trade it for one of the following and I don't really know which will be the most reliable, given that I will be buying it with approx 100k miles and will take this to 200k over the next 5 or 6 years. What do you peeps think?... Read more

+1 for the Skoda Octavia, great cars PD engines are noisy but good on fuel and super reliable if maintained properly.

vauxhall vivaro , ran realy slugish today ,got back home and checked usual things , eg air filter ,fuel filter ,all usual plugs airflow put air box back on and it seems to have cured itself but nowas a diesle knock ,didnt have it when i parked it up ,could it be the cam shaft sensor ? Read more

Hi, I have just read your message about your Vivaro makin a knocking noise. I have the same problem with my vivaro which started whenI had the mass air flow meter changed, due to lack of power. IT NOW SOUNDS LIKE A BAG OF HAMMERS BEING THROWN AROUND. The van has been to FOUR different garages and been looked at by two AA men. I reckon at least 10 mechanics have looked and listened to it and they are all baffled as to what it is. So far apart from the mass air flow being changed i have had the following work done as suggested as a process of elimination, "new cam belt and pulleys, disconected exhaust and air intake, EGR valve, assy, turbo actuator, auxilary drive belt and ANOTHER MASS AIR FLOW METER at great expense and the van sounds like a massey ferguson tractor. If you have managed to get yours rectified please please please tell me what it was, many thanks Allan.

I have taken a 2003 K12 (New shape) box out a few times.

The lid is held on by two pegs, one each side, near the bottom. The pegs are prised out using a flat screwdriver inserted under the head and pushed well down towards the peg shaft , so as not to break the head off.

Having removed the pegs you can waggle the lid to get it off.

The car had a metal tray inside the box at the top which was next to be removed. It was not put back as was considered more of a nuisance!

There are some more screws to take out before you can get the box out. The works diagram shows three at the bottom and three at the top with the center top one also used to hold the tray.

The book says: The filter locks in by means of a bit of protruding plastic on its bottom edge that sticks up inside. Use a a bent screwdriver to prise that edge down so it can be slide out. I don't remember that bit. I just grab it and waggle it out.

Incidentally, don't make a practice of slamming the lid shut. The catch plastic 'bearings'/posts are weak and snap and it cost £60-odd for a new lid. You can't buy just the catch!

Good luck.

3500kg twin wheel with:-
1375kg F axle 185x14C 6PR front 3.2bar 46psi, rear 3.5bar 50psi
1500kg F axle 185x14C 8PR front 3.6bar 53psi, rear 3.5bar 50psi
1600kg F axle 185x14C 8PR front 4.1bar 60psi, rear 3.7bar 54psi

Refer to the vehicle identification plate for max GVW and plated axle weights.

I guess that single rear axle tyre pressures will be similar to those above and almost certainly not lower as there`s more weight on an individual wheel when running 2 as opposed to 4 rear wheels,obviously....

I was toying with the idea of putting a new stereo into my 307, however I am proceeding with extreme caution being as the electricals have been more than a little problematic.

I was simply wondering if it would affect the use of the display mounted on my dash? I mean does the whole thing need to be left alone or will I still get all of the useful information it produces with an after market stereo. I'd go ask Peugeot but no doubt they'd see the opportunity to blag my all too empty wallet.... Read more

Thats cool, was thinking autosounds here in Newcastle, they seem to have been around a while and have some decent stock. Plus I'd rather have a pro fit the electrics on the motor given my usual ham fisted approach to technical stuff!

Thanks for the advice

How easy is it to replace a leaking screenwasher bottle? Read more

rrvfireblade

you sure your rear wiper pipe hasnt just come off gedi?dont know about your 1.4 but my 1.9 has a wee connector behind the bottle that you can not see unless taking the bottle out,, you do know they have separate pipes from the front washer?? and if the waters not coming out the rear then thats surely where the fault lies especially if you can see water leaking,,if the problem was with your pump or the bottle itself then it would obviously do it when you were using the front as well,,,and from what you have said its not leaking when you use the front??take the bottle out and check all the pipes carefully,,even though a garage has checked dont mean it is ok,,sorry to say but some garages cant be bothered with wee jobs like that and just want you on your way asap,,as well as being a nightmare to find the leak sometimes,,if its a split pipe then the hole could be as small as a pinhead,,,take the bottle out its only held in by 2 plastic screws if its the same as mine and double check it,if the connector is still intact then hold the bottle up and get someone to squirt the washer for you and look for the leak

Can anyone advise the easiest way to change the knock sensor?

Just an update on vehicle. Was in for service this weekend and code check showed no knock sensor DTC's , so as its been dry for a while, we are now sure that it was a moisture ingress issue, possibly via the pcm connector.
