I own a 2004 Vauxhall Meriva,Easytronic Enjoy.
Despite reading some negative comments about the model,so far not too bad.However..whilst looking underneath at something else, I discovered that the front engine mounting bush had totally disappeared. Not a shred of rubber left, nothing, and this after just 23000 miles.
Could anyone recommend a reasonably priced parts manufacturer where I can obtain a replacement?I dont think this is a main dealer only part.
Although I dont have a Haynes manual, the job itself looks pretty straightforward, although I would appreciate any advice on that also.
Cheers. Read more
Hi I have a large scrape and dent on the rear OS quarter panel. I have looked for a new one online and found what I think is a good deal. I know a spray painter and someone who could weld the body part on. My friend has said to me that because my clio is a 3 door the rear quarter panel is part of the chassis and will need to be cut out. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks

Don't think this is a quarter panel that I need, as the panel goes behind the window.
Makes some interesting reading. I can now call myself an eco warrior as driving to nr Rome in a few weeks :)

Hi, need some help here. My 52 reg mazda 6 has been in for corrosion on the rear wheel arches back in feb. I havce now discovered rust coming through from the inside on both the bonnet and front wheel arches. I reported this to the mazda body shop about a month ago and they have just got back to me to say that as the arch is not perforated this is not covered by the warranty.
The rust is actually bubbling the paintwork and the underneath of the bonnet flakes away with the rust. I can upload pictures if necessary.
I would appreciate any advice as to how to proceed from here.
Thanks Read more
I mean are their any other options with dealing with the dealer or does this really mean that the warranty is not worth much.
I am thinking maybe I need to change the car which is a pity as apart from the rust only other issue with the car since bought has been an exhaust bracket apart from discs , pads and tyres. Other than that everything still original.
I have been offered £3000 part ex at a supermarket and have looked at a astra estate or have seen an 2006 Avensis Tourer t180 for £10795 with 38k on the clock but cant decide. Astra estate seems cheap for 6 month old 1.8 sri 8k full bodykit 18" alloys etc for £10k but am tempted by the avensis.
Thanks
Hi all,
Bit of advice needed here I have to choose a new company car and just wish to see what you all think.
Currently have a Skoda Octavia Ambiente 1.9 TDi very happy with the car but would like to change from the Skoda Octavia.
I have got three choices in mind,
Mazda 6 S Diesel, Seat Altea XL XL MPV Diesel or new Skoda Superd S or another Octavia but the elegance model.
Really fancy the Mazda as its a bit left field but would appreciate comments on all three cars.
I do about 30,000 miles a year predominantly on A and B roads with not much motorway miles
I can have all the usual Astra Golf Focus stuff as well but I have had these in the past so hence my rather odd-ball choices.

hi, i'm just wandering anyone would know if there is anywayz the petrol could mix with the oil on these engines?, the things is the car is a very poor starter the fuel delivary is nearly non existant and the oil light likes coming on quite often but the carb stinks of petrol and the rocker cover stinks of petrol, i did manage to fix a leak in the inlet manifold due to a failed gasket but weirdly the manifold its self was swimming in petrol, i was told the float settings in the car don't need to be adjusted because their self-adjusting???? any help will be great, thanx Read more
no black smoke, i'l try a new fuel pump tmorow, i cant thank you enough for your help, i'm not use to dealing with fuel pumps apart from on my dads bedford!, i'l let you know how it goes but thanks for your help, very much appreciated!!!!!!
iv only had this car for a few weeks and for some reason it cuts out after 15 mins with no warning then a light on the dash comes up with ncvt. i can start the car up normally again but am very worried about what this means. also sometimes the car jerks slightly and feels as though it may just cut out until i rev the engine.
Also has anyone heard of 'not enough air in the fuel tank' as apparently i also have this problem which also makes the car cut out. as you can imagine it would be quicker to get a bus the amount of times it stalls. Read more
thanks screwloose, got the cap sorted now and fingers crossed it hasnt happened again. just the ncvt thing to sort next hopefully without spending too much on it.
How are the Scirocco, Brera, Mercedes CLC and even the Passat CC labelled as 'coupe'? My interpretation of a coupe was a two-door saloon with a seperate boot from the cabin, not a hatch. A 3dr Golf is a hatchback, a 3dr Scirocco is a coupe. Eh? It seems anything with a sloping back and a purposeful stance is labelled a "coupe".
Our second car is a Ford Ka 1.3 Collection. From now on, it's a coupe. Read more

Hi All,
Hope you can give some advise on my recent purchase (Monday). Audi A4 2.5 Tdi that is pumping out white smoke while driving, nothing on start up (and no problems starting), some smoke idling and normal driving, but excessive smoke if you floor it, only noticed it after a run up to 80mph filtering onto an A road and then stopping at a set of lights after a mile or so (lots of white smoke!). Have a read-out taken in front of me that only flags an ABS rear sensor (light is on) and nothing else. I have a 300 mile round trip this bank holiday should I be OK to use it? Booked in with mechanic next week for ABS sensor.
Cheers

I hope it came with a warranty? Does it use water? Is the oil level correct?
Hi
After having a company car for a few years Im now in a job where I need to buy my own. Im looking at either an Audi A6, VW Passat or Ford Mondeo. Hatchback or saloon models & 2.0 diesel engine with manual gearbox.
I favour the passat, although maybe not the best looking ive had one before and they are a good drive & fairly decent build quality. I also like the A^ but they are a little more expensive.
Can anyone advise what an ex fleet 3 year old Passat would cost?
thanks

Having driven low and high mileage Passats, Mondeos and A4s, the Passat noticeably wears after 90 to 100k miles. The Passat at 60k will be about £1k more than the Mondeo and the A4 another £1k on top.

Not much discretion allowed now; computerization has tied the tester's hands by an enormous amout.
Engine mounts were never testable unless they impinged on another area.
