Anyone out there had any experience of a Porsche 911 933 coupe? I'm reading all the forums, guides etc. but any more personal experiences are welcome.
I'm very tempted by them. If I got one, it'd be in regular use, maybe 10-12k per year, mainly rural roads, no commuting. Read more

I just Google Imaged a Stroker Camaro, and can safely say that there are a number of Porsches that looks like more fun to me. I bet a 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa corners faster than that lardy tank

l have a vauxhall astra envoy 8v estate. the problems are. the battrey goes flat when car is left standing after 2 days. l have a radio which someone put in before l brought the car. the radio is conected to the battery , so l can work the radio without starting the engine. is this way the battery goes flat. l take the front cover off the radio when car is not in use and there is a little flashing red light behind it. another problem l have is just latley the engine electronics immobilizer light comes on after driving the car for about half hour.

subject header amended to give some brief info about the problem Read more

unlikely to cause the light to come on, approx £35 at dealers, disconecting battery will not cause any long term problems but will cause the learnt parameters to be lost, which will be re learnt as you drive it next day/time driven

Hello,
My MB, c180k, auto 2003, the light came on after a few days of low radlevel warning coming on & off & high temps. The lightr went out after 2 weeks. Car ran good.

It came back on again a few days ago, not sure if the car is hesitating at times or just my feeling.

Mercedes charges about £120 to check.

A friend did a check with small meter & he felt it was the number one lamba sensor aka 02 sensor

All help apprciated. Read more

Hi
Wonder if you can help . My daughter had a fault on her 2001 year old Peugeot Hdi 307 Diesel car and had it repaired - she need a new flywheel and sensor which were fitted by a Peugeot specialist but she now has a Anti pollution system warning come on . It subsequently went off after 2 days but has returned and she says the ESP has appeared. She has to do a number of miles on the motorway for her work . Will the warnings damage her engine if she does not get them repaired immediately as it is very difficult for her to get to the Peugeot specialist during the week as she lives in Leeds but works in Sutton Coalfield and the Peugeot dealers were very expensive .
Hope you can help

The A-P message can have myriad causes; the only way to know is to get the fault-codes read - then come back for some more detailed advice.

Temperature certainly can change quickly; I wouldn't assume that there is no fault there.

I have a 2003 ctdi civic, turbo had to be replaced in 2006 but honda had extended the warranty and so replaced it for free. The same problem seems to have returned, loses power going up hills, engine malfunction light comes on but only stays on for about one day and never long enough to get it onto the computer! Has this happened to anybody else???? Read more

mechanicmark

this is a very common with the 1.7 and unfortunately there isnt much you can do other than keep changing the turbo. The engine was built by isuzu and honda are very aware of the problem, hence the warranty on the turbos being extended. I once had a case where I replaced a turbo 5 times on a police civic.

I have just bought a Fiesta and see that the spare has a 14" diameter, when the car wheels are 15".
I am told this is quite common. Wheels of different diameters, or are the rims the same, just a smaller tyre.
This does seem a bit strange. Read more

Yes, saves money. Steel wheel not alloy. Cheaper, higher profile, lower sped rated tyre. Like jc never got the 'space saving' bit. You've got to put the original somewhere when it's punctured.

Mrs S has just bought a new Tigra with 17" pentaline alloys. For some reason this car (and Corsas with the same wheel option) comes with no spare wheel or jack - just a can of 'get you home' goo. I can see no logical reason for this - other Tigra and Corsa models with different wheels have either normal or space saver spares. The overall wheel diameter is the same as other models and doesn't preclude use of the spare wheel well for the displaced road wheel. I'm inclined to look for a Vauxhall breaker and buy a spare wheel, jack etc. Before I do, can anyone think of a logical reason for this decision by Vauxhall? I am mystified.

A car with no spare is no good to me... I set off from the traffic lights in the middle of Bolton last month and Bang! A sharp steel spike through the side-wall of a back tyre. And it made two holes in the inner sidewall! I have a full size spare and scissors jack and a telescopic wheel wrench, so I had the spare on in ten minutes. No cans of goo would have got me out of that one! And I picked up the spike so's it wouldn't go in any one else's tyre!

I've just bought my first Ipod Classic and want to listen to it in my car, but would rather not use an FM transmitter.

I have a Kenwood KDC-W707 headunit which has a CD changer output on the back. So I was thinking about getting one of these or similar from ebay tinyurl.com/5lk23p . The cable basically uses the CD changer port on the headunit to charge / send audio to the ipod.

I'm concerned that using this cable to charge the ipod will damage it - will it? Any help appreciated.

EDIT: It says 'Rated 5 - 30V ------ 1A Max' on the back of the iPod if that makes any sense to anyone

Just returned from a cracking trip to France on my motorbike. The roads/drivers were no problem , just could not get my head around 'priorite a droite' (hope I have spelt this correctly!) though, what is the point of this rule? I only ask as I cannot see why users of minor roads should have 'priority' over users of some main roads - just seems downright dangerous to me! Read more
