2001 2.0HDi Anti Pollution system warning light - Richarddel
Hi
Wonder if you can help . My daughter had a fault on her 2001 year old Peugeot Hdi 307 Diesel car and had it repaired - she need a new flywheel and sensor which were fitted by a Peugeot specialist but she now has a Anti pollution system warning come on . It subsequently went off after 2 days but has returned and she says the ESP has appeared. She has to do a number of miles on the motorway for her work . Will the warnings damage her engine if she does not get them repaired immediately as it is very difficult for her to get to the Peugeot specialist during the week as she lives in Leeds but works in Sutton Coalfield and the Peugeot dealers were very expensive .
Hope you can help

Generally speaking; it's better to get these things checked ASAP - but the car does have a measure of self-protection built-into the system. The A-P warning comes on for any significant code. The ESP coming on as well, might suggest a throttle or brake sensor issue.

If the ECU - which does know what the code is - feels that it has engine-damaging potential; then it can use a limp-home setting to reduce the load on it's components.

Hi

I have a 2003 model of the 307, I have the same problem
the engine management light has been on for a few months now
just can't afford to get it repaired yet. The light flashes now and again
saying "Anti Pollution Fault". It's done about 45,000 miles and serviced
last year. I only had the clutch changed about 6 Months or so ago,

I also brought a set of part worn tyres, this car seems much more less realible
then my previous Ford Focus. The other fault I get "Engine coolent temp too high"
the temperature needle goes over into red and slowly comes back down.
Making me think, it can't be the temperature as it can't change so quick. This happens many of times while I'm driving and also the STOP sign flashes.

Is the Anti Pollution fault costly, I've tired driving it for over 50 MPH on duel carriageway, no joy. I have noticed the car has no pick up anymore.
I'm gussing the temperature issue is a electrical fault??

Please can you advise?

The A-P message can have myriad causes; the only way to know is to get the fault-codes read - then come back for some more detailed advice.

Temperature certainly can change quickly; I wouldn't assume that there is no fault there.
