My 52 reg 1.9 TDI 130 has thrown a wobbily.
Just finished filling up and locked the car on the fob and the alarm started going off - the key fob wasnt unlocking it so I had to do it with the key but the alarm still went off (the lights were not flashing though)
Ended up driving the car home (only round the corner luckily) with the alarm still going and after about 5 mins it stopped sounding.
Another possible clue is that the electric windows are suddenly not working..
So in summary:
Key fob not working (battery is fine and no difference with spare either)
Alarm went off after locking with key fob but no flashing lights
Electric windows not working
Nothing else noticed so far
Red alarm light continually flashing on drivers door but alarm not going off when I get in the car and it starts up fine...........

I have a 04 mondeo 2 litre TDCI, The problem is that the glow plug light starts flashing and the car loses power, fault clears when you restart the car, its been and had the injectors redone and it is still happening, the mechanics don't know what the problem is and its showing a new fault code P0251, does any body know what the problem is? thanks for any help. Quite a complicated business explaining the origin of a P0251 on a TDCi.
On the face of it; it doesn't relate to a TDCi as it's a spill-valve, or rotor, code from a TDDi-type injection pump.
You should have had a P1211 code as well - yes? The P0251 is generated as an EOBD equivalent to a pre-cursor code to that P1211 - Delphi codes 45 and 46; "Rail pressure control trim/error."
If either of those exist for long enough, or occur often enough; it sets P1211; but while it's still adding them up, you'll get P0251.
There you are - clear as mud.
Basically; the fuel pressure in the rail is not as commanded. This could be an inlet metering valve fault; a high-pressure pump fault; [aargh!] an injector leaking-off excessive amounts; a fuel filter blocked; [common] air getting into the feed - that sort of thing.
Proper testing needed to define which of those reasons is the true one - if any.

Hi
been watchin Paul2's messages to see if he got his CZC2 before mine, I ordered mine on the 22nd February and still no car, I've been told the next one in is mine but the dealership has no Idea when the cars come in, and I'm having no addons other than what the dealership fits and I ordered a black one as I was told they are the "standard" color. The car is a Motaility car so I dont feel I can make a fuss, problem is I've sold my car as I was told late March beginning of April for delivery luckily I've got my wifes car to fall back on

Nice one yorky, you couldn't have picked a better dealer, we drive past the norwich and ignore the ipswich one on the way to John Banks to buy our car.
Say hello to Paul (and Abbie) for us! we live in Lowestoft, i'm sure he will know who it is!
Hi guys,
I have a 03 reg 307 hdi 110 bhp (RHS) and have recenly had the ECU remapped to increase its performance (now 145bhp). the car has only done 46k, mostly urban driving, and has been regularly serviced (although not by peugeot). it has just given me the "Unblock Diesel Filter" warning and beep. I've read on here that there may be a couple ways to resolve this ie, take for a drive above 50mph for 5mins or if that don't work bite the bullet and get peugeot to change the filter.
However, my question is could the fact that I have had the ECU remapped have any bearing on the above fault?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

I don't know about the re-mapping but what happens to the insurance premiums when the increased horsepower is reported to the insurers? I have taken to driving my 1.6Hdi around in 4th gear for point to point driving, to keep the rpm above 2000 and keep the exhaust a bit hotter. I was getting re-gens 2 or 3 times a week in 200 miles driving and using 4th seems to help.
Hi.I drive a 407 55 plate, hdi luxury pack.I some noises when parking,a clunk and the whole car is kinda shaking when turning the steering wheel almost full...I thought it might be a problem with the power steering pump(not sure if the exact definition ) or something to do with the ball joints....
I also have a ''problem'' with the whole snip engine....one of the engine mounts(support)might be loose i think, and when I start the car,if you look at the engine compartment, the whole thing shakes like it wants to start running...Is that normal with the 407s?
Don't have any friends with this kind of car,so i can't check...
And last problem....when going over the speed bumps(i live in london,so have plenty of those ),i hear some kind of noise which i think it comes from the suspension...sounds like stretched rubber,if that makes any sense....any1 else experiencing the same problems?
Thank you and hope to hear your views soon Read more
I have a similar problem with my 05 407 HDI. (Its only done 40K miles). I dont get any noise but i can feel 'vibration' and 'grabbing' from the steering wheel when going over bumps or rough road. but also when turning corners and going round bends etc I can feel the steering wheel 'grabbing' or jerking slightly. I took it to a local garage and the mechanic tested it out and reckons it is momentarily dropping power to the power stering intermittently. He said he wasnt sure what the exact problem was but id going to speak to a 'mate' that works for a peugeot dealer.
I suggested the Steering flush but he reckons that the problem is more 'involved' than that!
Any ideas?
How do you buy tyres these days?
I used to ring around and get really variable prices, worst of all from the best known place in most towns, who quoted and then said ring back if you get a better price.
Everywhere else quoted better of course and I never rang back, but they are all still there on city ring roads, selling exhausts, tyres batteries and so on.
What about these internet sites though such as Black circles, that give competitive prices and then you go along to the designated tyre dealer to get them fitted.
Never done that before, have you? and how have you found the experience?
in particular, do you get a better deal?

DE, I could be wrong, but I suspect they love you too. On Michelin PS2 (225/45 R17) they were £95 fitted without any haggling at my local trade tyre depot, cheapest I could find on the interweb was £105 delivered or £120 fitted.
Might be worth investigating what their price is before naming yours next time?
am a young family man with 2 kids that presently lives in London but will start working in Birmingham in 2 months time, so i need a reliable car that will be doing at least 400miles every week.
Unfortunately my budget is limited to five to seven thousand pounds and the rest of the family (my wife and kids) have told me they want me to buy a family saloon cars.
Based on the reliability index Honda ACCORD 2003 to 2008 model seems to be the most reliable car in this bracket. However, my budget could only buy those with high mileage from 80,000 upwards. Due to reliability, I think I prefer ex fleet to privately used from supermarket dealers. Is that right? Any other options?
More specifically , I have found one petrol engine one with 2 previous owner and 82,000 mileage for 5,300 pounds but with official combined fuel consumption of 35mpg while I found another accord diesel based with 52,000 mileage for 7,300pounds with combined fuel consumption of 54mpg. Which one should I choose?

You can get 50mpg out of the diesel - I managed it with two, one over 120k and one loaner over 3k. Both were execs so at the heavy end. Run it at over 70 and you will not achieve it though - fill to fill my lowest was around 43mpg and that was at a little over the speed limit on a French autoroute fully loaded.
The diesel apparently suffers a manifold cracking problem (mine was changed at around 95k).
Great car but the sat nav on the current version ruins the ergonomics.
My wife has diabetes and has to renew her licence every three years with a doctor's certificate. In the past the DVLA has sent out a reminder, and a form for completion.
She has suddenly noticed that her licence is two years past its renewal date, no reminder having been sent. DVLA are "looking into it".
My view is that by continuing to drive she is committing an offence and invalidating the insurance. She maintains that as it's not her fault the licence remains valid until DVLA send the renewal and doctor's forms.
Anyone know the legal position?
Thanks

Hi Guys, I have a VW Polo - T Reg - 1999 - 1litre
(No alarm or electric windows... Very basic!)
When I start the car, it starts as normal and then cuts out straight away even if I keep the acceleration pressed.
This happens a few times (5 or 6) over the space of 5 to 10 mins and then starts as normal.
This has been an ongoing problem over the past month or two, but is now getting much worse and is nearly happening on a dialy basis.
I have recently had a service, oil change and spark plugs replaced.
(Also I am a newbie when it comes to car engines)
Any idea's or help appreciated,
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Also VW official garage are quoting 85+VAT... JUST TO HAVE A LOOK!!! (way too expensive for my budget!) Read more
Hi,
Finally I found the problem to be the Transponder unit on the Ignition Lock Barrel which is connected to the ECU.
The transponder unit was not reading my key intermittently. But once it reads properly, as long as you dont take the key out of the ignition barrel, it will not give any problem.
My work around was to keep the key in the ignition barrel and cover it with a cloth while I used the second key to lock the car from outside.
This worked very well except for the risk.
Meanwhile, the part costs 33 Pounds and replacing it is done from under the steering wheel.
Hope it helps
Warm regards,
Hey thanks elekie&a/c doctor, you just helped me as well! Same problem with my Bora, the fuse wasn't blown, but must've been poor contact. Knowing they were all through one fuse was much more help than the manual.
Cheers...
