Can anyone advise me how easy it is to replace these please.
They seem to be attached by one nut and a clip in/velcrose type of arrangement. I'm not sure whether an adhesive of some sort is used as well.

This has nothing to do with the previous thread petrol in diesel this problem has been happening for a while.
intermittent non starting of ford galaxy, no response when the ignition key is turned, dash board lights up it makes a knocking sound but when you turn the key further nothing happens, however lt happens occasionally and normally resolved it self if you go back an hour or so later. Could be immobiliser but where to start i do not know.
If it helps it is a 2.3 petrol 4cyl in green!!
May thanks all

I a car thats worth little and tollences in the fuel it needs are not as tight as many a mixture of 2/3% diesel in the petrol should run fine.
I would not do this in a brand new car, but to be honest in my experiance most cars can cope with some contamination in fuel, technically there is always a small mount in the fuel otherwise we would not need fuel filters, and before you say about this being particals not fluid, these also collect water and other impurities.
Diesel will burn at the right temp, so a high % of petrol will acheive this.
As most of you will have experienced yesterday was a terribly wet day especially where I was.
I was driving on the inside lane of the Al dual carriageway northbound approaching Alnwick in Northumberland. I was well back from the traffic ahead as there was spray affecting visibility.
I was overtaken (and given a bit of a fright at the time) by a motorcyclist riding at the fastest speed I have ever witnessed,. I was driving at between 65-70 and the motorcyclist passing me must have been doing another 50-60 mph, sheer lunacy it was and you could barely see him for the spray he was throwing up.
From what little I could see of him he appeared to be a private motorcyclist and even if he were delivering a vital transplant part or in any other official capacity he would have had no chance to take evasion action if a vehicle had pulled out ahead of him.
This motorcyclist was on a death wish and it is only a matter of time before he has his wish granted. Read more

The bow wave merchants just don't think or care. There's sometimes a massive puddle at the end of Carey St, just by the old Nat West Bank pub thingy. Give way like the highway code says and SPLOOSH!!!.
Wearing my (suddenly very wet) cyclers trouser clips I pursued the errant Almera the length of Chancery Lane determined to empty my water bottle into his lap. Unfotrunately I lost him at the lights!!!
I mentioned this before, but now Caledonia.................
So what`s the situation for Fiat now that Caledonia have gone into receivership?
A while back, Pendragon also dropped Fiat seemingly, when they bought Reg Vardy.
www.motortrader.com/26497/Caledonia-Motor-Group-go...l
It seems Perry`s in Huddersfield and Sunwin in Bradford are no longer Fiat.
Was it DC Cook in Barnsley that were once Fiat? and thats just the North..
I feel sorry for the staff.
Surely though these are not just Fiat HQ taking out Dealers that do not meet their criteria for quality?
I`ve heard of passing the baton, but what happens when there`s no one within reach to take it?

"I wouldn't pay the huge premium for a MINI. But I will buy a 500."
Have just read your road test of the Fiat 500 HJ,
It seems from the tech data on the 1.3 Multijet Fiat 500 , that the torque of the engine has had to be reduced, even on the multijet `Sport`.
Same as on the Panda then (same base?) as compared to this power unit in bigger models such as the GP and Doblo. Presumably this is because the box on the 500 can`t take the standard torque of the engine? and because the box with the higher torque capacity won`t fit the engine bay.
Don`t know if there are any limitations that that gearbox imposes on clutch plate area, (and subsequent clutch life) compared with the gearboxes with the higher torque rating?
Does the 1.2 Petrol engine carry forward its alleged propensity for head gaskets going at around 30,000 miles?
If so, to me the winner all round is the 1.4 petrol as the car of choice.

Hey all, who knows about cars?? I know a bit but am confused about this!
I recently posted "alarm wont stop going off" on astra G convert page - good news all sorted! sorted its self out!!
Howeva... I had a very steep driveway and i noticed last week that when reversing up it there is a nasty burning mechanical smell!!
Today i was driving it again and when driving up a hill in slow moving traffic it started to do it again! This time it was so strong i thought the car was going to blow up or something! I checked the exhaust (whilst in traffic, looked like an idiot!!) and also smelt the bonnet area, nothing, no nasty smells!
I thought it could be the cat, but why would the smell only be coming through the air vents?? Someone else said it could be the clutch because it is putting strain on it when up hills, biting point in traffic etc!! But again, why only through the vents???
The smell is so strong, it makes your throat sore. my GF was nearly sick.
As i bought it from the garage last week it has 3 months warranty, so if i can find out the problem i will take it there and tell um to sort it!
Any ideas guys?
Thanks
Dan
I know its tempting to shout about this but it was toned down !

I had an Astra where the headgasket O ring seal had gone sufficiently for oil to weep from the head/block joint to allow oil to drip onto the hot exhaust.
A new head gasket cured it.

The alloys are all in a bad way, so while I have the winter wheels and tyres on I thought I'd give them a repaint myself. I know it won't last long, although they won't see any salt.
At the minute they're a mixture of paint and polished areas, but I just want to repaint the whole lot silver. What's the best primer and paint to use? I've used Hammerite primer and silver smoothrite on alloy stuff before, and it's been pretty good, but maybe there are better products out there? Read more

Surprise, surprise, fiddling with the dimmer worked! No need to remove airbag, stering wheel and dashboard, thank heavens. Thank you for the advice. BillT
SNIPQUOTE!
Some of you may remember that I was going to buy a ZT and I promised I would let you know how I got on. Well, so far, it's been a disaster though not, I hasten to say, the fault of the car.
I picked up the ZT last Saturday at 11am - fantastic car, drove like a dream. I drove home, had lunch, then just driving locally and a white van ran into the side of my new car. This was 1pm. So I had the car 2 hours, then had an accident. As you can imagine, I was very upset!
The van driver pulled out of a side road into the side of my car and it was totally his fault, which he admitted at the scene. He said the sun was in his eyes!
I phoned my insurance company and arranged for my car to be sent for repair. I also said I needed a courtesy car. No problem, they say, a car hire company will call you.
So the courtesy car is delivered on Monday which I sign for. It's only later when reading the small print that I realise I have entered into a credit hire agreement with the car hire company under which, if they cannot recover the costs from the third party, they will expect me to pay. The thing is they gave me a Jag X-Type to drive. Initially I was very pleased, but the hire cost is £100 per day!
Now, as I said up-front, I know the accident was the fault of the third party, but what if he manages to pin the blame on me? I would then be expected to pay up.
But one of the benefits listed under my policy is the provision of a courtesy car. So I don't see why I should have to enter into a hire agreement where I am potentially liable given that I should get free use of a courtesy car anyway. TBH, the reason I signed up without checking was because I just assumed the car was being provided under the terms of my insurance policy.
I have tried to contact the insurance company loads of times to query this, but I get someone different every time I call, and no-one seems to be able to give me an answer.
I have today sent a complaint e-mail to them, and asked them to confirm that, if the hire company pursues me for the charge, they will pay it on my behalf.
Sorry for the length of this e-mail. But has anybody been in a similar position before? Am I worrying unnecessarily? Any advice appreciated. Read more
Wife's A2 was written off July 06. Her policy with Tesco included replacement car for two weeks (1.0 corsa likely)
She had an A3 2.0 TDI SE (hardly like for like) which was recovered fully from the other parties insurer. Basis of the deal was as OP described, similar accident to OPs!
There is an industry springing up - one of the reasons why insurance premiums are rising.
I have the standard speaker set up in my 147 lusso and was wondering is it possible to upgrade to the bose system and also is it worth doing?
your views will be welcomed.
