97 2.3 petrol 4 cyl. Intermittent non starter. - mondy2004
This has nothing to do with the previous thread petrol in diesel this problem has been happening for a while.

intermittent non starting of ford galaxy, no response when the ignition key is turned, dash board lights up it makes a knocking sound but when you turn the key further nothing happens, however lt happens occasionally and normally resolved it self if you go back an hour or so later. Could be immobiliser but where to start i do not know.

If it helps it is a 2.3 petrol 4cyl in green!!

May thanks all

Intermitant non starting of 1997 Galaxy - rtj70
is this not a windup? You say not but who would, in their right mind, put contaminated fuel in any car. Let alone one with starting problems.

this is a different car though.

Remove the column shroud and the lower dash. Follow the cable from the key-reader down to the small plastic box which is the immobilizer.

Clean both it's plugs with electrical contact cleaner.

I a car thats worth little and tollences in the fuel it needs are not as tight as many a mixture of 2/3% diesel in the petrol should run fine.

I would not do this in a brand new car, but to be honest in my experiance most cars can cope with some contamination in fuel, technically there is always a small mount in the fuel otherwise we would not need fuel filters, and before you say about this being particals not fluid, these also collect water and other impurities.

Diesel will burn at the right temp, so a high % of petrol will acheive this.
