Hello,
I bought a Peugeot 308 with 140.000 km, the clutch and slave cylinder failed after 7000 km, which I guess is acceptable, but it came back from the shop a bit weird. There was this barely noticable click when shifting to third gear. This got progressively worse and had stabilized at this annoying dry metallic click when shifting to 3rd (from 2nd, but not from 4th) and very rarely 4th to 5th. This only happens if the car is actually moving and seemingly at random, it's generally worse in the cold, but the gears shift just fine (better than expected for Peugeot, really), there is no increased notchyness, no rev spike, I can't hear any grinding, thuds, there's just this stupid click. The shifter has a kind of metallic feel to it even before I get to shift anything and the sound doesn't feel muted enough to come from inside the gearbox, but on the other hand it's noticably worse when driving. ... It has just been serviced so I am assuming the battery should be fine??? It has a six months warranty - I’ll call them tomorrow and see what they suggest.
If you are anywhere near, don't miss this.

If the Pink Floyd exhibition last year was anything to go by, it should be worth £18 anyway. And you can still go and look at all the other stuff to the extent that you have time.

im looking for advice on what car to go with next and i think you guts probably know more than me. ... Read more
By far the most reliable and also the best on fuel would be the Civic 1.6 DTEC. Practical, well made and easy to sell on again even with heavy miles up, it’s what I’d pick here.
I have a car on finance that had a warrantee which ran out literally weeks ago within a week of it running out I have had to get the dpf filter cleared at a garage, the radiator fan blew a fuse link and now been told that it has an engine knock which requires a new timing belt and bearings, a new water pump while they are in there and possibly a new camshaft pulley.
To top this off I was driving the car on Friday and the radiator fan has fallen apart inside the radiator and snapped meaning I can not drive the car at all. All of these things have been confirmed by two garages and happened within three weeks.... Read more
Can't see how an engine knock could be temporarily quietened by a spray of WD40.
As they suggest new cambelt/bearings/pulley/water pump the 'knock' must have been in the camshaft system. ...
Maybe there's a Swede in here who knows all the good car events in the country. A first generation Honda NSX has been my favorite car since I played the first couple Gran Turismo games as a kid. To touch one, or even just see one in person would be a special moment to me. 10.0.0.0.1
I've looked up car events and there's a Japanese car racing event next year, I'm sure at least one NSX will be there but those will just be modified cars. That's not really my thing. 192.168.1.254... Read more
I had my thoughts on the cars when they were announced and not sure, writing some comments in the forum. , but took the Plunge when the Venga had a breakdown, even thought the Venga still had 3+ years warranty left.
Have been pleasantly surprised, and yes, it has grown on me.... Read more
Very interesting ORB. I suppose if MG continue to improve and gradually build up a following as have Kia, Hyundai etc they will do well. Seems like a lot of car for the money, but as I tow a caravan I don't think an MG model would pull 1500Kg. However your ongoing comments are welcome. Cheers Concrete
The MG HS (out shortly) will tow 1750Kg and is a major step up.......
I wrote about this when I renewed last year, just as I changed cars at renewal, and the words are there on the policy Documents in Black and White this year!

Maybe 30 years since I last did this, and it seems A LOT harder than I remember.
In those distant days I drove onto the deflated tyre, or I used the foot of a bottle jack next to the rim with the weight of the car on the jack.... Read more
No joy refitting that tyre. I tried a couple of G-clamps on the rim to keep one side down, and when it became obvious I wasn't getting it back on with tyre levers alone, I tried a jack tensioning a rope around the tyre on the opposite side.
This, along with hammering hardwood down on the bead, (lubricated with sunflower oil), got me a bit closer to on, but not close enough. Can't think of any clever tricks likely to get there....
How about lubricating the remote gearshift linkages?
