Not wanting to start another supermarket vs branded fuel debate, but I’ve just fuelled up at Costco for 123.7 per litre for their Premium Diesel. I’ve no idea if there is a legal definition of what is premium so far as fuel is concerned, but it’s still 4p per litre cheaper than my regular Tesco diesel.
Interested to see whether it delivers any of the perceived benefits of BP/Shell premium fuels, I’ll give it a go for a few tankfuls. Read more
Does anybody know which cars use cam-chains instead of cambelts? I know the Nissan Micra does. Read more
Lexus CT200h is cam chain.

I have recently decided to take the plunge in trying to buy cars at auction and sell for a profit. I have spent quite some time researching this and purchased my own car at auction as a test run (would have cleared around 800 based upon autotrader prices). I have come across a theoretical problem which I thought I would put out here.
-When purchasing my car I received the green slip from the V5C as proof of ownership but the V5C itself did not arrive for around 2 weeks. This is problematic as I would ideally have turned the car around in this time (MOT, repairs, valet, listed, sold; ideally). I wonder if there is any way around waiting for this as a private buyer? Failing that, what are the requirement that the auction house (BCA) might have to put a car into "in trade" status. Read more
If you get a BCA trade account, buyers fees are still considerably higher than they were in 2005 percentage wise; since then the fees have rocketed.
Manheim feee are just as bad.
To make money as a small trader is tough, you need to specialise.
I recently had my Honda Jazz catalytic converter stolen in Enfield, London. When I get the car back I want to get a catalytic converter locked fitted. Does anyone know of lock suitable for a Honda Jazz 2009 1.4 CVT SE automatic?

On 7th October my husband interrupted three men trying to steal the two year old Honda own brand catalytic converter from my 2006 Honda Jazz. The car has been with Artis Accident Repair - via my insurance company - ever since. I keep getting different versions of what the garage have done/are doing.
Bear with, the explanation is long, and my question in the final paragraph if you want to skip to it!...
My partner has finally discounted the CHR on cost grounds and settled for a new Captur.
Understand the diesel is the best engine but is the petrol versions performance acceptable being a 1.2 and is this a three cylinder engine.
Everyone these days cringes when you mention a French car but are these nice looking cars fairly well made and reliable ? Read more
“Given the choice SLO would you choose this engine over the diesel. And does the diesel suffer from Dpf problems ?”
It’s too new to tell if it’ll be reliable but from everything I’ve read so far it’s a very pleasant little motor. Renault can be a bit hit and miss but when they get it right they last well and get it right they did with the 1.5 dci which can cover 250k easy enough. DPF issues aren’t unheard of on low mileage cars but they’re not known to be bad here. I’ve sold them and I’ve run a Kangoo van with the same engine without any engine issues at all. The rest of the vehicle was sadly nowhere near as robust and was offloaded at 3yrs old after multiple wiring loom replacements, two steering racks and two o/s front suspension rebuilds to try and find a nasty clunk through the steering on corners which they never could solve.
I’m currently looking for a small car (bigger engine preferably)with a budget of approximately £5000.
Is there any particular brand that I should keep away from which would make it more attractive to the thieves ?
Or any brand/model that is least attractive.
Someone said Toyota’s are one of the most attractive brand to nick although I’m not sure

Range Rover Evoque post 2015 Ingenium 2.0 Diesel, DPF and Oil dilution issues.

We had the 2.0 2WD Evoque on a two year lease during which time it needed three oil services. The pretty but stroppy girl on the service desk was ignorant, rude and a lying little ***** when I told her the reason. Luckily the car went back before we got into the costs too much.
Dreadful car in general but SWMBO wanted one..
I was looking at the new Rav 4 as a replacement to my Hyundai Tuscon.
It's a Marmite looking car but some of the packaging is really lacking - the luggage space is better than the Hyundai but at the expense of a noticeably smaller passenger space. ... Read more
Toyota announced in December that upgrade kits will be available for existing model Rav4's from May 2020. £50 fitted or free when done with a service.
It's hard to find a used car these days that hasn't got Chinese tyres fitted.
Are they all bad ?
I find they affect handling and ride but are there any good makes out there ? Read more
A Made in England sticker is meaningless.A Made in Germany sticker has some legal standing.
Thats my understanding as well FB, I have seen the boats and the storage tanks and the only tankers I have see in the depot were in Shell colours. I have also been told that Shell do not add any ethanol to V-Power, instead they add their own substitute made from natural gas that does not cause the problems that ethanol does.
