Hi All,
Advice please...... Read more
The current issue of Autocar has a full road test of the basic Tesla 3.
The testers rated it highly, but I noted the 'real-world range' the magazine achieved in everyday driving (a mix of town and dual carriageway / motorway) was 155 miles, compared to Tesla's claimed 250. The test pointed out that if the driver kept below 50mph, up to 230 miles was possible.... Read more
I don’t have an issue with someone buying new every three years, but he could suggest keeping it if cost is the reason. Some friends change every three years, they like the fixed annual outlay, and get bored of the car. Fair enough.
Every time I remove the key from the ignition I find that the next time the key is inserted, Siemens CDR 500 radio asks me to re-enter the radio's code. It is a real PITA to do this each time I might want to listen to the radio but I am not sure where to start looking for the solution.
My first thought was that a fuse had blown but according to the radio's manual, the radio fuse is in slot 19. In fact, that slot was empty when I looked so I put a new 10amp in anyway but that made no difference.... Read more
Yes, there should be a permanent 12v supply as well as the switched one, the permanent one seems to be missing.
Gob smacked at the advice What is the best automatic diesel car for taxi use please? Skoda Superb. Great value for money, practical and cheap to run. Also consider a Vauxhall Insignia or, if you'd prefer something a bit smaller, a Honda Civic.
Awful advice... Read more
The only taxi I have been in that was automatic was a Mercedes. The rest have all been manuals and Skoda Octavias are the majority. Especially with the old PD130 diesel engine. They will do starship mileages and are much sought after. I sold mine with over 210K miles and a guy came all the way from Essex to collect it. Paid me in cash too. He said the minor niggles on an 11 year old car didn't matter to him. The engine and gearbox were the main attraction. He might even strip it down for parts. I do now see a lot of Uber taxis with Toyotas though, A growing trend. If they are reliable then word spreads. Cheers Concrete
Hello all
I’m currently looking at a 2017 Mazda 3 (petrol) what are they like on fuel ,I do 70 miles a day all A roads will it reach any where near 50mpg. I own a focus diesel at the moment which after its second mot is falling to bits leaking gearbox oil injector seals leaking the list goes on all this and it only don 45k.
The main reason I’m looking at Mazda is no turbo or dpf to concern myself about...but saying that are these gdi engines prone to carbon build up.
Thanks for reading.

Is the clutch clearing properly? Try bleeding the clutch through which will replace the fluid and get rid of any air in the cylinders and lines.

Do they only build Chinese copy cat (of European design) kit cars and add their own badge or do they have their own models?
Find it astonishing they don’t publicise their car prices , you have to enquire in person !

It is reported that 70% of the car content is of local manufacture, the rest is imported from Japan, Germany etc.
I can't find any reference as to what existing or past models their cars are based on....
All this confirms my suspicion that the ideal UK urban vehicle would be a really rusty, dented, mud splattered old Land Rover, towbars and tow balls back and front, with a dog cage in the back containing a hungry Rottweiler.
Or get a trunk monkey!...
