toyota airbag safety fault notified months ago----but garages say they haven't got the parts for the rscall. Read more
I had a letter from Honda this morning. This is the 3rd recall on the airbag. This time it's the "driver's airbag inflator may be over pressurised". I phoned Lookers Honda and they told me the recall is purely because the supplier has "gone bust" so Honda are only issuing a recall because of a warranty issue, therefore nothing to worry about and it's perfectly safe to drive the car. That's not what Honda say and I have had bad experiences with Lookers in the past, but the Honda dealer I trust is more than 100 miles away, so Lookers is the only option if it really is a safety issue.
But my car is in a garage at the moment being repaired following an attempt to steal the catalytic converter. It will take 6-8 weeks for the garage to obtain replacement sensors. They can't do the airbag fix as they're not Honda dealers. Nor will they deliver the car to a Honda dealer when they're finished. Nor will Lookers collect it from them even though they are just down the road. Plus Lookers are saying they will need at least two weeks notice of an actual slot when it is to be booked in before they will order the part.
I am so not happy.
As the body and chassis are to be built in Portugal, the engine elsewhere, the plant in Wales will surely just be assembling kits of parts?
The "Grenadier" also seems curiously anonymous, no pictures or sketches?
I think that Ineos and Land Rover are missing a trick not offering a really basic version, rubber mats, plastic seats, for the commercial and military markets. Even the Germany Army buys Japanese 4x4 pick-ups these days. Read more
Following the style of the Austin Gypsy rather than Land Rover?
Hello. I am pursuing compensation through an uninsured losses reinsurance scheme following a car accident. The third party's insurer (TPI) has agreed liability. My car has been 'written off' and I sustained injuries. I thought the cost of travelling to a medical appointment to obtain a report and the cost of sourcing a replacement car (ie travel to car dealerships) would be claimable. My solicitors have responded thus :
' However the Courts state that travel to the medical appointment is not recoverable. As you are a Claimant wishing to make a personal injury claim, the only way of proving the injuries sustained is attending the medical.
This is also the same in relation to the travel for the replacement car. Legally the third party insurers are only liable to put you back in the position you was before the accident and as the car was a total loss, this is the total loss valuation. They are not liable for where you decide to choose to buy the replacement vehicle from. '
I would be grateful if someone knowledgeable on these matters could advise if the reply from the solicitors is correct and I am wrong.
Many thanks in advance Read more
TBH i'm surprised the firm concerned haven't already intervened if the poster is part of their operation, instructing them to cease forthwith, maybe they'll make contact or clarify by a post themselves if they believe the person isn't associated with them, doing them no favours.
I fail to see otherwise why someone should use the name of a company or group they are dealing with as an identifier on a public forum, i drive an old Toyota, fine vehicle though it is i wouldn't expect the maker or importer to be any too pleased if i chose the brand name or Toyota UK Ltd, or the company i work for if i posted under the good name of my employer.
I bought a Ford Focus 13 plate automatic in September 2016 from a Ford dealership with full Ford service history. I took our a service plan with the dealership.
Less than 2 weeks after purchase the car nearly stalled and bounced / juddered coming off a motorway. I visited the dealership the next day and they found there was a recall on the transmission and carried out a software update which is what they recommended.... Read more
You’ve no chance here. The car has done almost 100,000 miles and you’ve had it for more than two years, there is no obligation on the firms part to reimburse you. The problems are very well documented with this gearbox, so much so that many dealers simply won’t take them into stock at any price and Ford have decided to replace it with a more conventional torque converter gearbox instead in newer models.
Your best option here is to give up and sell it either by part exchanging against a newer car (be careful which auto you buy if it is a requirement) or by offloading at auction while it still drives and no warning lights are illuminated. Not ideal but essentially you’ve bought a bad car and there’s no way the firm will pay to repair it.

My old v70 is in for repair after a lorry decided to redesign it and I have been given this XC90 2019 as a courtesy car. I've found the turn off stop start function but it doesn't seem to work....any ideas? Read more
Mazda’s I-ELoop (capacitor) is only on, from memory, the higher output petrol engined Mazda6, but it is clever. I’ve had if charge from almost empty to full by stepping off the accelerator at the top of a downhill motorway slip road and it has been charged by the time I got to the roundabout. In essence, that’ll meet the car’s electrical needs for a short time, lessening the load on the alternator, and consequently the engine.
It's no wonder car drivers are not using their indicators, they are too busy dealing with all their other ancillary items as they go on their merry way. What ever happen to the bog standard car!

Hi everyone,
I need some advice on buying a car. I have my eye on a few golf mk6 GTD's 2009-2011 year with between 90000-130000 miles on them. Are they good cars after this much mileage or will i be constantly in and out of the garage with it as i am with my 08 1.9 GT sport?... Read more
.... it's the cheapest I've seen in a while here in ireland
If anything - especially a used car - is surprisingly cheap, there is probably a reason you would rather not know about. Especially if the cambelt and waterpump have been done (and you might well be too).
My fathers personal licence plate has expired. He has dementia and didn't renew. By I discovered the DVLA didn't want to know. It was an expensive vanity plate that he had intended to put on his classic Mercedes.
I would be willing to pay to resurrect it but as far as the DVLA are concerned once expired it is gone for good....
